Is the tide turning?

I just had a phone call from a friend.
He's involved in the Midlands music scene.
He'd always tried to stay neutral, but received a message from a fellow musician, urging him to cancel a female musician, who'd expressed GC views.

His main concern is that this issue is so divisive; that it's causing division and splitting people who are mostly on the left.

My own son had to leave his ownu band, because a male member, came out as trans - they emailed a nasty, sexist song, saying 'its ok, we can say what we like, we're a trans band, now'.

My friend has a teenage daughter, and has, over the last 10 years, gradually conceded - previously we clashed.
I reminded him that I went out on a limb, 10+years ago.
I asked him to imagine a scenario where she is changing for swimming, alongside an AGP.

I'm half disappointed, that his reasons for support, are self serving, and half energised by him agreeing 100%, with what I've been saying, all along.

Is this where we need to concentrate our energies?
Not on the feminist perspective, but on how it affects traditionally 'left' communities? (He laughed when I called him a 'beardie woke bro - he so is!)

Not that long ago, I did an advanced search on "tide turning" and similar expressions. iirc, it went back to 2016 and has been a thread topic many, many times.

I see no turning tides when all the major institutions and systems of governance and service delivery are captured.
