Hey Mumset, Kavanagh interloping here again,

We've published our full response to Cass. We say it identifies the UK's part in a global homophobic medical scandal and we call for a public inquiry.

Would be most grateful for any amplification of the report or our twitter thread on the subject here.

Really grateful for any assistance and my profound thanks in advance.

All the best

Dennis Noel

Thank you Dennis. It's been such a relief to know that the Gay Men's Network are on the case.
Off to listen to you on Free Speech Nation - I hear you were excellent.

LoobiJee · 22/04/2024 08:10

The link isn’t opening for me, I’m getting one of those “could not establish safe connection” messages.

highame · 22/04/2024 08:32

Watched Free Speech Nation last night and your passion for this issue is outstanding. An excellent watch

Waffleson · 22/04/2024 08:35

Hi Dennis, I hadn't heard of your organisation before and I'm pleased to know there are men active on this issue, thank you.

ResisterRex · 22/04/2024 09:17

There are a few threads now.

IMO very important to maintain focus on what has failed which is child safeguarding. The NSPCC have statutory safeguarding powers and we know the issues there go back years. We know from Cass that children were being referred directly to specialists and bypassing the safeguarding screening, with their other issues being set aside. We know that people have been raising concerns about the NSPCC to no avail. The Charity Commission is also an important part of the jigsaw as is the Children's Commissioner.

Senior NSPCC volunteer quits over gender ideology. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/5059780-5059780-senior-nspcc-volunteer-quits-over-gender-ideology

Quote from the article

“This month, Sir Peter Wanless, chief executive of the NSPCC, announced he was stepping down.

An NSPCC spokesman said the organisation had no formal partnership with Stonewall, but did engage with the campaign group, “to hear from communities that are often under-represented”.

“At the NSPCC, we pride ourselves on being a safe space for children and young people – whether that’s supporting them when disclosing abuse or providing a listening ear for any concerns,” he said.

“In order to fully support children, we must create a non-judgemental space that allows them to feel comfortable and protected – something which is covered within our training. Something simple, like using a child’s preferred pronouns, is one way in which a young person can feel listened to and respected.

“We would like to thank Julia for the years she spent volunteering with the charity, inevitably changing the lives of the young people she supported.”

A Charity Commission spokesman said: “In May 2023 we opened a compliance case into the NSPCC to explore its management of the Childline message boards.

“After engaging with the charity, which commissioned an independent safeguarding team to review the message boards, we were satisfied the NSPCC had implemented the recommendations from this report.

“The case was closed in September 2023.””

You're not an interloper, Dennis! Yours is a very welcome voice here.

Thank you so much for this @DennisNoelKavanaghOffTwitter.

I do have to reiterate what @ResisterRex says above.

As Cass says there is a schools to clinic pipeline.

But that's not just from the individual schools. That's from all the organisations feeding into schools. NSPCC included, which is a statutory safeguarding organisation. Some are other organisations who deliver safeguarding training and governed training. Others are charities. Some are universities who have close ties with schools as their teacher training students have placements in schools.

Please do also download the template letter that SSSAUK have provided and send it off to your MP. It's very quick to do, though I am going off on a tangent with some other links and evidence I want to include and have but yet pressed send!

WarriorN · 22/04/2024 13:30

The inquiry needs to be firmly shifted to focus on schools and those who are peddling the ideology to them.

allnewfor2024 · 22/04/2024 13:51

@WarriorN thanks for this, a letter will be on its way to my MP this week.
We’re dealing with the fall out on the front line at home, so this at least gives me something constructive to do about it.

LarkLane · 22/04/2024 14:10

Thanks DNK. An excellent and articulate interview, and a presenter who also knows what he is talking about.
Thank you for speaking up and being a constant beacon throwing light upon this terrible scandal and the individuals within it.

(Also as the mother of a gay man, I'm personally very grateful to you for the work of the network.)

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 22/04/2024 14:31

Thank you Dennis - a great interview. I hope the BBC will invite you on the Today programme (I know I know, don't hold my breath) - wonderful to see you speak so passionately about child safeguarding.

You are absolutely right, all the DEI employees and activists with their black tie dinners aren't the ones who'll end up in pain and with life long medical issues. There really needs to be accountability.

DialSquare · 22/04/2024 15:00

Thanks Dennis. I was cheering internally at everything you said. Great interview.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/04/2024 15:36

Finally listened - great interviews with both you and Sarah Phillimore.

The link isn’t opening for me, I’m getting one of those “could not establish safe connection” messages.

I can explain this as we get it a lot. An ABSOLUTE LOAD of corporate or home firewalls block any site with "gay" in it because apparently we're a porn category. I had this issue yesterday on my phone, turned WiFi off and went 5 G and I could access it.

Fantastic interview and you are right. This is an absolute scandal. Vulnerable autistic, gay and lesbian and looked after children have been utterly failed.

Thanks Dennis. I wondered if it might be because of my broadband provider. I’ll try again when I’m using mobile data.

SoftDay · 22/04/2024 19:41

Dennis, you were fantastic in that interview with Andrew Doyle. Thank you for all you are doing to protect children. I will read the document you linked tonight. Your emphasis on child safeguarding is so important, and thank you for also standing for women.

SoftDay · 22/04/2024 19:57

If somebody had told me ten years ago that a new and dreadful assault on gay and lesbian rights, and on basic tenets of child safeguarding, would come from the (self-styled) left, I wouldn't have believed it.

If somebody had told me ten years ago that a new and dreadful assault on gay and lesbian rights, and on basic tenets of child safeguarding, would come from the (self-styled) left, I wouldn't have believed it.

The cliché of all movements turning 180 and eating themselves comes to mind. It's remarkable to see it happen. (Fawcett Society, WEP, Amnesty, Women's Budget Group—too many.)

It was the left, liberationist perspective and its support for PIE and eroding child safeguarding that almost succeeded in the 90s.

Despite the arc of history showing that these things are rarely settled, I wonder if as a society that embraced progress, there was an unquestioned assumption that these struggles would never need to be fought again?

All those clichés about liberty and freedom of conscience, speech and thought rarely being givens but ideas and principles that have to be sustained and for which a respect has to be taught for every generation…
