Hey Mumset, Kavanagh interloping here again,

We've published our full response to Cass. We say it identifies the UK's part in a global homophobic medical scandal and we call for a public inquiry.

Would be most grateful for any amplification of the report or our twitter thread on the subject here.

Really grateful for any assistance and my profound thanks in advance.

All the best

Dennis Noel

If anyone is still having firewall problems, you may be able to access the full document through this rather long link.

Thanks, that worked.

I can explain this as we get it a lot. An ABSOLUTE LOAD of corporate or home firewalls block any site with "gay" in it because apparently we're a porn category. I had this issue yesterday on my phone, turned WiFi off and went 5 G and I could access it.

Oh, so you do IT support in your spare time! Thank you!

Thank you for that, the first link was blocked by my corporate computer.

@DennisNoelKavanaghOffTwitter Hi Dennis. Big fan of your work.

I'm just slightly hijacking this thread in case you're not aware that Aston University has scraped data from here (against MN terms of service) specifically for the purpose of a phd: "A corpus-assisted discourse analysis of linguistic transphobia on Mumsnet"

i.e. it's a PhD that seems to start from the conclusion that posters on here are transphobic, which seems pretty defamatory. Using data taken against MN terms and conditions and in breach of data protection law.

Their extremely flimsy argument for continuing to use this illegal data scrape - which MN now seems to be permitting, thus breaking the terms upon which all of us signed up - is that as posters are anonymous it's ok. Even though part of the purpose of their department is to take anonymous online posts of 'extremists' and try and identify them.

However as you are not anonymous I suspect their use of any of your posts in such a PhD would be defamatory, copyright infringement and a GDPR breach.

I thought you should know.

There are quite a lot of threads on this but the first/main ones are here:

Site stuff threads (where Mumsnet have commented, inadequately IMO)

Any chance of a bit of pro bono advice for Justine, Dennis ?

😃

Thank you @DennisNoelKavanaghOffTwitter

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 11/06/2024 16:37

Thanks Dennis. Unfortunately, perhaps unsurprisingly, MN aren't going out of their way to make users aware.
