I suspect this person put more time into the fantasy of what the future holds than in the research of potential disasters. And I suspect that the surgeon was probably not clear when the surgeon checked that this patient fully understood the risks.

Haven't read the whole thread but just posting this account of complications, which, since he names the surgeon and hospital I will take as true. It infuriates me as the NHS paid for the initial surgery and then obviously had to deal with all the complications that followed. Revision surgery, recto-"vaginal" fistula, ileostomy, ileostomy reversal.

FWIW I suspect the problem wasn't caused by him accidentally dilating too deeply whilst still in hospital, I bet those stitches were about to pop anyway but no doubt it's convenient to let him suck up the blame.
