Miriam Cates was due to speak at the NatCon conference in Brussels tomorrow, on the topic of "Save The Children!"
The conference has been shut down because the Mayor will not tolerate the far right.

Here is a tweet to GB news discussing why the conference was shut down:

I'm putting this here because I know a lot of GC feminists support Cates - I don't, and this stuff is why. She is awful.

And here it is ‐ now we have something to discuss. Haven't had time to watch it yet.

Nothing stopping you before - I linked the "Critic" article which is a verbatim transcript of her speech.

Fwiw I agree about the Internet and "big tech" - not clear what she's suggesting is done about it though. More state involvement in policing the internet/free speech would appear to me to be an "anticonservative" position. I'll wait to see how her anti-porn proposals go, given this government has been completely incapable of sorting out the "prevention of online harms act"

This quite frankly alarms me: "If we do not rescue childhood, there is limited value in our efforts to reverse birth rate decline, or to strengthen our borders or revive our national identities."

Children are not automatons of the state. They don't exist to uphold national identities. Not sure what her point is about borders. Seems rather irrelevant.

You don’t seem to understand how political parties work. They are coercive, via the Whips, who whip everyone into line with the party. It takes a very brave MP to openly criticise the party - the only remaining reason I really admire Corbyn, despite his naivety.

So Cates is too weak to speak her mind to the Prime Minister.

Why doesn't she sit as an independent, I've heard it is quite fashionable at the moment.

How is she going to save children, if she is too weak to leave a party that just yesterday had its leader attacking vulnerable children?

Surely if one is worried about population decline, then immigration is a good thing?

What am I missing?
