Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
Rainbowshit · 10/04/2024 20:42

Excellent

Crankywiddershins · 10/04/2024 20:46

Has anybody told India Willoughby yet? I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/04/2024 21:23

Presumably as they've been treating children with unevidenced experimental treatment (given how seriously the NHS takes the safety of children in medical trials), the possibility is that things are even worse with aduts?

GeorgeOrwellsTurningGrave · 10/04/2024 21:40

Good. Children and vulnerable adults should not ge experimented on with unnecessary and life threatening procedures.

SpicyMoth · 10/04/2024 21:50

"NHS England also intends to force adult gender dysphoria clinics to hand over data which they refused to share with University of York researchers whom Cass had asked to obtain to help draw up best practice guidelines for how the NHS should help such vulnerable young people.
It will outline the health outcomes seen among the 9,000 people who as under-18s were cared for by the gender identity development service at the Tavistock and Portman NHS mental health trust.
Six of the seven trusts did not cooperate, prompting Cass to complain in her report that a potentially world-leading research project had been “thwarted” by NHS secrecy."

"Six of the seven trusts did not cooperate..."
Fucking. HELL. 😶

FinallyASunnyDay · 10/04/2024 21:53

Thanks for posting. So Devon was the only GIC to cooperate - I thought they might be.

Whilst good news that both service spec and services to be reviewed, I forsee a huge push to the private sector (much easier than for kids). Will be some private specialists rubbing their hands with glee right now.

Swashbuckled · 10/04/2024 21:53

Such excellent news; I've been waiting to hear about the next steps for adult services.

Thanks for the link 😊

SpicyMoth · 10/04/2024 22:13

Apologies for many posts, reading snippets in between finishing up dinner!

"Mermaids said it welcomed “calls for more high-quality, transparent research which supports trans children and young people to receive timely, holistic, supportive and personalised care”."

"Which supports"... So if research leads to results which are unsupportive then Mermaids doesn't welcome research.
Way to say the quiet part out loud!

aberamagold · 10/04/2024 22:25

This is great news!

With this news and the recommendation in the Cass Report that 17-25 year olds be treated in the child clinics, hopefully all vulnerable young people will get the evidence based help they need.

Boomboomboomboom · 10/04/2024 22:29

As they should. As I mentioned in other posts I'm certain they've failed many a comorbid vulnerable adult by blinkered treatments without treating the whole person.

How any 'medic' thought treating the gender dysphoric without proper prior psychiatric assessments is beyond me.

In all other spheres comorbidity is considered due to the huge interplay between appropriate treatments.

AlisonDonut · 10/04/2024 22:33

I mean, they could just close the whole fucking lot down. Just stop funding them. If they wanted to.

It will be another 4 years to plough through this now.

The moment a clinic refused to cooperate with a government ordered review, should have been the moment they sacked the whole fucking lot of them.

I'm fucking sick of this.

SpicyMoth · 11/04/2024 02:15

Trans people no longer support Stonewall apparently - wonder where this is gonna go!

PriOn1 · 11/04/2024 06:57

It’s very telling that these clinics are unwilling to engage in a review. The obvious conclusion that arises is to wonder what they are hiding.

I think this refusal makes it more important than ever to say no to any further use of puberty blockers until the truth is revealed.

Any clinic using an evidence based, genuinely non-political treatment protocol should be able to defend their position openly and robustly. I feel we are really starting to probe the darker corners of where all this has been heading.
