I like James O Brian generally but like a few others, he got the gender issue totally wrong and jumped on the wrong ship . I hope he reads the report thoroughly and reconsiders his past views . Ditto the Last Leg ( Alex and Adam not Josh ) and The Good Law Project who I wrote to this morning on the back of the Cass publication .

I don't think that any of us were expecting apologies for the reams of personal abuse we've endured for the last few years. I'm not even slightly surprised that we're responsible for this continuing as long as it did because we didn't say it in the right way for men to listen to us (even though it was said in every single possible kind of way by many different people over the last ten years or so).

The Cass Report is already discredited. It is a political positioning. Extremely Sad. They dismissed most studies showing the success of blockers because they were not double blinded control studies and newer studies of the last two years.

This is a next to impossible standard, and not one you see elsewhere. It's unethical to do this type of control study on kids - like giving one a parachute and one none when the plane is crashing.

Actually, prioritising the gold standard evidence of Randomised Controlled Trials (preferably double or triple-blind) is a standard used all the time. Mishy, you're normally quite predictable but this feels extraordinary, even by your usual standards. I was treated to the dulcet tones of JOB this morning & got to site with raised blood pressure & a headache.

It was the point where he described himself as 'on the fence' with no strong feelings either way' [unlike the 'toxic' people with strong views 'on both sides'.or.course] after a really long emotive pro-trans rights monologue about his concern for trans kids, name dropping Brianna Ghey & a particularly amazing statement about how only people who transed early after having puberty blockers had any right to comment.
