Bunbury RIP

We might now be at a point where Bunbury is no longer required and I thought it might be nice to give Bunbury a bit of a send off. Thoughts please.

Anyone got a good eulogy?

To those GC's who caused or were subject to deletions, I am requesting a medal of honour The Gender Cross for bad tempered GC's

The fight continues but we are free of many thread deletions.

Bunbury, you tried to keep us on the straight and narrow, you rarely succeeded but you tried. Bunbury's Thirteenth edition - unlucky for some, kept going despite an onslaught of deletions and Bunbury's Orchestra was still alive and well the last time I looked.

Peas be with you vipers

Bunbury lives as does the need for her.

I still recognise a lot of what is covered in the original.

Bunbury 4 eva

WarriorN · 09/04/2024 09:11

Will it need to include weetabix?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 09/04/2024 09:14

Flowers for Madam Bunbury. I still think of her advice when faced with the occasional community disrupter - and often fail to follow it 😂

ADoggyDogWorld · 09/04/2024 09:16

yy I felt like invoking Bunbury quite a lot recently, I am not the only one, I'll bet.

Beenawayawhile · 09/04/2024 09:21

Can I ask why you feel Bunbury might no longer be required.

I used to be active on FWR but have pulled away for a while as I've lost friends in real life and become a bit down and jaded with everything. I've been avoiding anything to do with the trans debate as I just got so worn down. One of my best friends cut me out and since then I've not wanted to be a part of anything anymore.

Has something changed on the board regarding Mumsnet's rules/stance on discussions?

I'm pretty sure she atn't dead yet, but perhaps she can retire to Shady Pines in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt?

Yes, you're right, but just think how far things have come, from Orwellian speech clamp downs to now. There have been some incredible days in the fight for women's rights. I can't believe how much progress has been made over the past few years. More than I ever expected

I don’t think she’s quite gone yet but we could probably start thinking about the arrangements for her eventual send off?

Here’s my suggestion for the buffet:

Bunbury RIP
Chersfrozenface · 09/04/2024 17:17

I can imagine Bunbury with a note on her chest saying "I aten't dead".

And even if Bunbury should shuffle off this mortal coil, surely her orchestra will live on, like the Hallé.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 09/04/2024 17:21

@KellieJaysLapdog
I now want a trebuchet. That "artwork" needs dismantling in style.

Are we supposed to know what Bunbury is? It's not easy to participate in these threads when the terminology isn't widely understood!

Bunbury is something that can't be explained on pain of deletion (or used to be). However, you'll get a sense of the history of Germaine Bunbury's Guide by reading the post that I linked upthread.

Yep.
One particular thread at the moment for me.

ADoggyDogWorld · 09/04/2024 18:30

Indeed.

If you click the link in RethinkingLife's post at 9.09 you'll see one of the threads. It was designed to remind women on here that we can avoid "community disruptors" and giving techniques to help - not addressing a poster intent on derailing a thread but ignoring their goady posts and addressing another poster etc.
There were a series of them but many of them got deleted. Posters who aim to disrupt and insult are often very emotionally fragile and speedily complained to MNHQ. That got some threads deleted.

The name derives from Wilde though not directly analagous.

I suspect she may think about enjoying an active retirement. However, rest in peas territory might be a way off yet :)

AReasonablePerson · 09/04/2024 20:16

duplicate deleted

Thanks, I'll have a read.
