Can anyone tell me what everyone is going on about in these comments

I'm in my mid forties, currently having awful peri symptoms so Facebook/ Google has started targeting me with HRT ads, fine.

Just clicked on this and people are arguing in the comments about gender affirming care and I don't know why, do they think HRT is the same as cross sex hormones? I can't get my head around it.

Then one poster seems to take offence that the woman in the ad is black? What the hell is happening? Hope the link works

I can’t see any comments at all, so probably just bots that have since been scrubbed?

(Superdrug are pretty lax re: prescribing testosterone to young women via their online dr service so some criticism could be warranted, although obvs I can’t see what you see!)

Can anyone tell me what everyone is going on about in these comments

TRAs like to refer to cross sex hormones as hrt so that they can claim that they are no different from menopausal women taking hrt. It's a neat trick really which let's them piggyback on the struggles of women whilst claiming that cross sex hormones are not only harmless hut nesscary, and let's transwomen co-opt the menopause and periods.
Basically it's the same dangerous gaslighting that you see when they refer to bilateral double mastectomies as top surgery and both phallioplasties and vaginoplaties as bottom surgery. It's a constant theme with TRAs to minimise and disguise serious and harmful medical interactions on perfectly healthy people

They were saying things like 'cis women and trans women both can access gender affirming care' which baffled me because HRT is there to stop you having awful menopause symptoms like anxiety and hot flushes isn't it? But lots of people were replying with agreement

(some) doctors do prescribe HRT medications off-label for gender transition, but obvs if you are prescribing oestrogen and progesterone to a man you aren’t ‘replacing’ naturally - occurring-but-now-diminishing hormones as you are in menopausal women.

@Hoardasurass I don't know how it's got so bad. Gender affirming care for cis women? Fuck off. I just want to stop sweating so much

@KellieJaysLapdog I can't believe they've managed to steal the term HRT from menopausal women. Madness
