These start today.

They have two categories for competition: open, and female-identifying 🙄

Well, I hope they have fun, and no females get hurt or are disadvantaged through competing with males.

Do you know what makes me laugh?

Even just having a category called "female identifying" acknowledges there is a biological disparity between men and women even if they let males into it.

Otherwise, just have the "open" category on it's own.

Incidentally, do they have a reason for not having a "male identifying" category? Or are they all in and open about this being about the men and throwing a sop to women with "female identifying"?

Nope, no mention of that. This is from the FAQs and then the registration policy. They keep everything nice and vague. If I can be bothered I'm going to check some codes "gender" policies - badminton is first up on the list of events and has separate open and female-identifying matches, whereas many of the other events dont specify. I will try and check back over the weekend for results etc to see if there is anything remarkable.

I guess if the point is to have a fun and social event, then it doesn't matter too much, but if people are going because they feel it is a safe place to compete to win, then females will be hard done by.
