Apologies if I've missed an already existing thread on this, I couldn't immediately see anything mentioning it so thought I'd post it myself;

I was honestly genuinely taken aback to see This Morning guests and presenters seeming to agree with JKR on this topic and giving quite a balance and nuance take on the situation. Especially considering their past history with platforming India Wilhoughby and side taking re; trans issues previously.

Hesitant to be too optimistic, but perhaps we truly are getting somewhere!

"Beep! Beep! This ferret is reversing. Beep! Beep! This ferret is reversing."

That is good news. Things are changing and JKR is doing a wonderful job of helping to drive that change.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 02/04/2024 16:16

Sonia Sodha is bloody amazing! So clear and succinct.

Agreed, I just watched a bit of OP's linked video but she speaks amazingly well.

334bu · 02/04/2024 16:42

Thank you for link. Brava Sonia.

Snowypeaks · 02/04/2024 16:45

Sonia was brilliant. Nick Ferrari seems to have shifted position quite a bit.

The fact that the law overreaches so ridiculously, that it omits women from its scope and that it is JKR who is challenging it is making it easier for some people to cross the golden bridge. Her success and popularity give her credibility. Plus it's a way to finally face all the niggling doubts and cognitive dissonance they have been trying to ignore. I know we keep talking about turning points but this is a tipping point. There's too much reality against this ridiculous ideology, too much narcissism in it. It's falling out of fashion. It's collapsing under a weight of lies. There are decades of work ahead, but this movement has finally become politically toxic.

Nomorenomores · 02/04/2024 17:00

Sonia was so right when she said the police have been really bad at upholding free speech.

SpicyMoth · 02/04/2024 17:05

Possibly some more good news, but on r/MtF there doesn't appear to be the massive amount of backlash towards JKR that I assumed there would be either;

Usually when JKR dares speak about this type of thing there's multiple threads with the comments exploding into the hundreds, but there's shockingly few of either!
Perhaps even the trans community are starting to see that they're going too far as well?
One can only hope!

The lunchtime interview on R4 about this was not good. There was a TW on was so disingenuous. 'Some of us are sex offenders, some are not, just like everyone else.' Yes well that's not the point is it? The danger point is when the males amongst you are treated as women by the CJ system. The danger point is when males are given access to women when they are vulnerable because we all have to nod along that they are women, and that puts women at harm, psychologically or from assault.

'We just want to live our lives as our true selves' Well carry on then in all spheres except in sex-specific spaces as women have these for a reason.

Stop pretending women have boundaries with just and well evidenced cause is oppressing you. You are not being oppressed, you are just being unreasonable, and actually oppressive to women, in your demands.

Thanks for sharing. This is great to see on breakfast television.
Reaching the masses.

Sonia Sodha is superb!

Choochuw · 02/04/2024 17:28

The reason they were able to have a civil and balanced talk about it is because there was no Trans activist to scare everyone into the narrative.

There's no way it would have gone that way if IW or someone was there. There's too much of a threat to careers.

Well observed.

The TW on the lunchtime programme was given a really easy ride.
