Meeting Ed Davey - what to ask?

I have an opportunity to meet Ed Davey, leader of the Lib Dems and believer of genderism, today.

What do I ask him to put him on the spot, that will be polite but to the point?

I'm worried that I will just waffle and not make my point clearly if I don't plan it in advance, so any help would be much appreciated!

Are you concerned at the number of women who have been assaulted and raped in prison?

Was he one of the ones who advocated puberty blockers as a harmless pause? If so is he concerned at the irreversible 10 - 15 pt drop in IQ for those taking them?

Can any 12 year old ever decide to be medically sterilized?

Ash him if he'll do a AMA on MN? 😁

Yes, this! Absolutely shameful.

I think he did one a couple of years ago (might be longer) and was very hostile to any sex/gender questions.

This is what he said in 2019 so I don't think I'll get very far, but I'm going to print it out and bring it with me, so he can't weasel out of having said it.

He also said this - even though all the questions were about women!

The person I spoke to was a local Lib Dem member.

For what its worth, in your different context:
My approach to politicians here in Ireland is to adopt an almost chummy - 'Ah come on now, you don't really believe that men can turn into women do you?'
which is disconcertingly unconfrontational but uncomfortably direct

I might start off with this, before the Staniland question.

Oh ignore that completely. What a ridiculous notion that you have to give fluffy nice questions to politicians.

I'd be tempted to read this out to him and ask him whether he's revised his opinion about trans women not being a danger to "other women" in light of the Isla Bryson scandal.

It was because you're supposed to be gentle that I didn't suggest you grab him firmly by the tie and ask him 'what. are. you. think. ing?' while punctuating each syllable with a blow round the earhole with a rolled up copy of the EA.

Ask him how he felt about the suicide rates, homelessness and bankruptcy he helped to heap on honest, decent sub postmasters. Ask him about the bedroom tax too. Ask him how he felt about jumping into bed with Tory scum on the pretext of adding social balance, because that was was true wasn't it.

That's a few just for starters.

I did get to meet and have a one-to-one chat with Ed and the lib Dem candidate for our constituency, Sarah Gibson.

I decided to go with @Fenlandia's suggestion (thank you!) and asked him if he still believes that biological men should be allowed into all women's spaces.
He didn't quite deny saying it, but 'might have been misquoted or taken out of context' apparently!
He was quite confrontational and in my face, especially about the Equality Act. He is unapologetically pro-self ID and not interested in women's rights at all.

Sarah was nicer but still all about the 'most vulnerable' but did ask me to contact her so we could discuss it further, which I think I will do.

I did chat with lots of other people, quite a few of whom got my point, although one woman did talk about Brianna Ghey. I just said that it was very sad and awful, but what about the 3 women murdered every week? She didn't have an answer to that.

So no big surprises, and I won't be voting for them. Ed was quite unpleasant to me, but he was expecting to be rallying the troops and not being asked awkward questions!

I certainly won't be voting Lib Dem this time round, and thanks to boundary changes the Lib Dems actually have a decent chance of winning in my new constituency. It won't be with my help though.

It is disappointing, but not surprising, to hear how unpleasant certain people can be when asked a question they don't like. True colours.

As for a question, I think I'd want to go for women's sports.

Oh, Oxford is really entrenched in this sort of ideology. My DC finds it very frustrating that it puts up such a huge No Thinking Allowed sign over otherwise interesting tutorials and discussions.

Why does he insist women can have a penis. Ask him if he knows how ridiculous he sounds. Has he ever seen one of these women with a penis?
