Sometimes I wish I believed in hell, somewhere there must be justice.

Over 42pc of women in Mexico live in poverty. So where better for two men to set up a surrogacy agency where poor women can risk their physical/emotional health to carry a baby for rich people? (In UK they incentivise women by offering Apple watches and theme park vouchers) 😡

The absolute nerve of these men.

This is a U.K. surrogacy agency, setting up a commercial arm in Mexico.

Calling Mexico an “emerging destination”. These fools think what they’re doing is ethical.

Brokering the sale of babies, in a developing country, in plain sight.

I was reading a story earlier this week about an American guy, think he was a vet who judged dog shows IIRC, who was about to take delivery of a baby with his husband. Where his hard drive was full of CSA stuff and his emails about what he planned to do with "his" child once signed for.
The risk of exploitation and the risk to the babies is so immense and so obvious it is heartbreaking.

We need to change the law so it’s illegal to bring trafficked babies into the UK.

That would put an end to the argument that we need to relax UK surrogacy laws so commissioning parents don’t feel the need to go abroad.

So grim.

Completely agree re: not accepting trafficked babies into the U.K.

If their commissioners really want to buy a baby they can show their commitment by relocating to a country where commercial surrogacy is legal and raising the baby there.

Commissioning parents seem to have plenty of dosh so they can spend some on getting a visa/moving house.

Being able to rent a womb in a poverty stricken country and then just fuck off back to their nice, gentrified life in the west and never think of the surrogate again is falsely sanitises their exploitative actions.

They should stay in the surrogates country and contribute fully, including taxes, to the society that ’gifted’ them the ability to buy a baby.

Revolting.

Imagine making money from enabling commissioning the creation of a baby that you know you will traumatise by parting from its mother. Yuk.

"We are looking for women in the former Soviet republics [for surrogacy contracts] because, logically, they have to be from poorer places than our clients.

I have not met a single woman with a good economic situation who has decided to go through this process out of kindness, because she thinks she has enough children and wants to help someone else who wants them.

They do it because they need the money to buy a house, for their children's education. If you have a good life in Europe, you're not going to do it."

Asked if BioTexCom might look into finding women from other countries to meet demand, he doesn't hesitate: "Of course. We've already done it with two women. It's not forbidden."

When I was at Uni I studied western political theory and feminist theory, and I remember reading Marx and Engels, and various Marxist feminists, describing how capitalist/male dominated societies want to control women because it allows control of the means of reproduction.

These theories view capitalism and patriarchy as inseparable systems and posit that exploitation of women reinforces patriarchal power structures within society.

This describes surrogacy in a nutshell - exploitation of women as a resource (i.e. the means of reproduction) by capitalism.

Yes it’s truly unethical, exploitative, cruel and evil, from whatever way you look at it. It’s astonishing that it isn’t illegal to traffic purchased children into this country. It makes no sense.

Just seen this.

Today @PrivateEyeNews reveal @MoJGovUK don’t know:

-How many UK surrogate mothers use their own egg
-How many babies brought in to UK after commercial surrogacy abroad

We tipped the Eye off: this is a safeguarding scandal.

Govt need to hold this data urgently
