The programme consistently fails to meaningfully engage with trans.

This is something that's always bemused me. Men having a GRC that says they are female is evidence they are female when no women have or have need of a GRC to say we are female.

In fact the only way to have a GRC stating you are female is to be male in the first place.

I made the mistake of googling the Beaumont Society and looking at the Our People page on the website.

They do have a certain look about them. Can’t quite put my finger on it…

I don't want to single out individuals here - I don't want to get personal, I try hard not to critique the way someone looks as I certainly won't stand for that being the main index when talking about a woman! But... yes. Yes there is a certain look on that page.

One of the people there bemoans the lack of bright colours in men's clothing ranges and enjoys the time spent as the 'committed crossdresser' persona they've adopted. (I thought that phrase was verboten?) But is it just me? men's clothing ranges are often very colourful! You can always get formal and semi-formal shirts in all the colours of the rainbow, you can buy lovely Hawaiian shirts or linen shirts for summer, and look at Michael Portillo's trousers! (if you can bear to) He always seems to find Posh Man Shops that fulfil his clear need to dress brightly. It's not about the colours really is it? Hmm

Actually, reading the self-penned bios of that board is chilling. Most of them mention wives and most say how hard their wives are finding their relatively recent changes. One said his wife only fully met his 'female persona' when he became a full time carer for his wife at the end of her life. Sad

So - a board of males in late middle age, mostly (as far as I can tell) heterosexual. Some of them using (possibly because this isn't their first rodeo and they've been doing this for decades) the Forbidden Words of TV and CD (I don't know if these are actually forbidden on MN!). Please can someone explain what on earth males like this have to do with LGB, and why so many LGB people want them under the same umbrella??
