Must be right wing soup, the bastards. One of the ones near me runs a right wing food bank and another holds regular right wing fair trade and crafts fairs.

Ha quite

PurpleSparkledPixie · 18/03/2024 12:18

Also the lying got to me, as the council claimed they hadn't reported her to the police, and the police said they did! Daft of the council to tell such a big fib.

I couldn't see that bit. A council worker isn't the same as the council. I'm assuming the worker reported the artist to the council and the police. One said nothing to see here, the other collapsed into a mega fainting fit.

popebishop · 18/03/2024 12:26

Just imagine being the kind of person who reads that article and the only thing worth remarking on as being bad is the political leanings of some people who share the same religion as the group funding the legal action against the thing that had happened.

That's the only thing to criticise in that whole story.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/03/2024 13:22

I don't think Mishy's heart is really in it anymore. Just dialing it in, poor lamb. It's understandable. We're all been there in one shape or another and then you discover your heros have feet of clay. I used to like Corbyn Blush. Listening to him refuse to call Hamas terrorists finally did it for me. Yes, I'm ashamed to say it took that long and I wasn't even in that deep.

On the bright side with this case, the Police haven't played along and the Council are now being cagey rather than doubling down.

I'm liking the stuff I've seen on it.

‘A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson said: 'This did not meet the requirements of a non-crime hate incident (NCHI).
'The reporting party was updated and signposted to Beacon services for further support.' ‘
(Mail)

The police done good.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 18/03/2024 14:02

I googled Beacon services and there are different ones ranging from helping those impacted by abuse to disabilities to students to mental health. The Police have certainly done gold star good if that's the case.

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 14:06

Seriously?
Someone needed counselling for reading on a website that a woman artist they probably had never heard of had said children should not be transitioned?
🙄

It's worse than that. The complainant had to breathe the same air. Trapped, and possibly alone!
Culf said she had chatted to the employee as she made a cup of tea while setting up the exhibition

Stunning and brave.

I hope dear old Mish doesn't get any splinters from the straws they're clutching at. Reeds can give a nasty cut if you're not careful.

OMG! Well in that case, totally understandable. Thoughts and prayers...

IcakethereforeIam · 18/03/2024 14:17

The poor wee thing <deep steadying breath> initiated the conversation too 😢 They/them were probably expecting nothing but agreement. But instead found the were sharing tea (actual tea not the be kind T) with...with...a TERF!😳It's a wonder they/them didn't run out of the gallery screaming.

popebishop · Today 12:05

My local church runs soup kitchens week in, week out. I know Mishy is against that, isn't that right?

I bet the bastards put little Swastikas in the Alphabet Soup, the bastards...

I really can't see how Watford Council can win this, after the recent lawsuits. They seem to have acted as if they don't have a legal department, to which they could have referred a proposal for the course of action they have stupidly decided to take.

I hope and am 99.9% certain that she'll win, but again, it's taking public money from an organisation dedicated to public service; one which is short of money again. They need to settle, ideally, rather than waste a fortune on a futile defence.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/03/2024 14:33

Or hidden messages. ‘Vote Conservative!’ ‘Stop the boats!’

DrBlackbird · 18/03/2024 14:48

MishyJDI · 18/03/2024 11:48

funded by the Christian legal centre....Yep. There is the right wing funds again.

Yes that is the issue that’s obviously the most important one here.

Not the authoritarianism.
Not a female artist being punished for wrongthink.
Not the baiting and reporting on a comment WORIADS.
But who funds.

In which case, are we concerned about who donates to the LibDems? Or concerned about who funds GenderGP? Or does this finger pointing only point in one direction?

WickedSerious · 18/03/2024 15:00

SidewaysOtter · 18/03/2024 11:03

I couldn't understand the "24 hours notice" thing to start with - I mean, what does that achieve?

I suspect, however, that someone who works there has complained that they feel "unsafe" in her presence - what with her clearly being the sort of monster who thinks giving children harmful, irreversible drugs is a bad thing - and therefore 24 hours is required to line up the necessary therapists, support animals, and safe spaces with blankets and snacks.

I hope she wins and the whole story comes out to highlight this utter, utter madness.

Will gardening be required? <dusts off shovel>

Yes,it'll give them time to hide in a cupboard before she arrives.

They've organised a Nazi luncheon club at the community centre down the road from us.

I'm not sure the Nazi luncheon club could stretch to crab,it's only £1.80 per head.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/03/2024 15:44

They will settle, I imagine, as soon as they run it by their lawyers.

CorruptedCauldron · 18/03/2024 15:45

I’m actually getting quite frightened of these activists now. There’s something deeply sinister about wanting to deplatform someone, damage their career and reputation, and even land them with a criminal record, all because they said something you didn’t like during a civilised chat over a cuppa? These people need help.

SidewaysOtter · 18/03/2024 15:53

Should have said "The reporting party was told to stop wasting police time and directed to Amazon to get themselves a grip".

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 18/03/2024 15:56

So someone on the staff started the conversation and then reported the artist's views to the council and the police? I doubt that the artist would have broached the topic.

When the police try stunts like that, it's called entrapment.

Glad to see that the legal challenge is being funded, even if I don't agree with all of the opinions of the funders. The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend, and that's OK.

One church near me has a food bank, a debt advice service and a homeless support group.

WILL THE EVIL NEVER END?
