Anyone got a share link?

I hope it works…

Hertfordshire police confirmed that a complaint against Culf was assessed but it judged no crime had been committed. It said the incident also did not meet the criteria of a non-crime hate incident.

The main story is shocking - someone posted their chat on social media and the police were called. BUT, this is interesting - it implies there are actual criteria for NCHIs....I thought anything could be recorded as one as long as "hate" was said to be perceived by someone, somewhere? Is this the new guidelines in use?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/03/2024 10:16

That's insane.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/03/2024 10:17

It meets the criteria of "wasting police time" though.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/03/2024 10:18

@Myalternate and @Imnobody4 thank you both.

This has given me a kind of cognitive dissonance. Part of me is thinking, this can't be right, there has to be some kind of reasonable explanation. The sadder, wiser me knows that the normal rules, and sanity, don't apply in the world of genderwoo.

This is abhorrent. So, someone working for the council started discussing issues impacting a particular group, and this artist is then vicitimised by a report by that person and the council played a sleight of hand in denying it reported her… (well.. one of their staff did), yet the council enacted punishment?

When will this kind of behaviour stop?

Fenlandia · 18/03/2024 10:21

I would love to see Watford borough council stand up in a tribunal/court and argue that transitioning children is all fine and uncriticisable when the Tavistock is closing and NHS England is restricting puberty blockers!

Myalternate · 18/03/2024 10:51

If she takes legal action against them 🤞 they’ll have the opportunity to explain their actions. Can’t wait 👍

SidewaysOtter · 18/03/2024 11:03

I couldn't understand the "24 hours notice" thing to start with - I mean, what does that achieve?

I suspect, however, that someone who works there has complained that they feel "unsafe" in her presence - what with her clearly being the sort of monster who thinks giving children harmful, irreversible drugs is a bad thing - and therefore 24 hours is required to line up the necessary therapists, support animals, and safe spaces with blankets and snacks.

I hope she wins and the whole story comes out to highlight this utter, utter madness.

Will gardening be required? <dusts off shovel>

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 11:13

She was set up. Who just starts casually chatting to an artist about trans issues? Her work is creating sustainable art!
I hope she wins and the Council have to issue a grovelling apology and the employee is disciplined.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/03/2024 11:13

Yes, if there is a plot, I'll definitely plant a few carrots.

Yes, sounds like she was baited. Presumably the overall intent is to make people feel they can't discuss this with anyone in case they 'tell' on them to big brother.

Imagine if things like this had happened in the not-too-distant past - I'm sure we'd all be condemning that kind of behaviour..... oh.

duc748 · 18/03/2024 11:37

Yeah that's exactly what it sounds like, @popebishop .

MishyJDI · 18/03/2024 11:48

funded by the Christian legal centre....Yep. There is the right wing funds again.

Who says they're right wing, Mish?

And interesting use of the word "again". I hear a lot about right wing funding (as if anything right of centre is automatically the very embodiment of evil) and yet <checks bank account> none seems to come my way. Or the way of any of the other women's rights campaigners I know.

It's almost like it's a tired trope wheeled out by those who have no other argument, isn't it?

popebishop · 18/03/2024 11:57

Are we saying that Stasi behaviour is not right-wing now? That's where we are?

I can't lie about that even if others can.

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 11:58

Is that your way of volunteering to fund her legal action, @MishyJDI?

Victoria Culf wouldn't need financial assistance from anyone if the Council had not taken unwarranted action against her for expressing, when prompted her compassionate and entirely legal opinion.

PS - right wingers and Christians are people too.

chilling19 · 18/03/2024 12:01

'and therefore 24 hours is required to line up the necessary therapists, support animals, and safe spaces with blankets and snacks.'

Sideways - perfect comment.

Mishy - give it a rest. You are shouting into the void. The tide has turned. Perhaps reflect on why you are arguing for children to be irreversibly physically and mentally damaged instead.

Gosh.... What a great post showing a depth of how deeply prejudiced you are!

popebishop · 18/03/2024 12:05

My local church runs soup kitchens week in, week out. I know Mishy is against that, isn't that right?

SapphireSeptember · 18/03/2024 12:06

You can be left wing and Christian, the two are not mutually exclusive. I've managed it for years and haven't burst into flames on entering a church yet... 😁

This is one of those articles that just makes you wonder what some people are thinking. Also the lying got to me, as the council claimed they hadn't reported her to the police, and the police said they did! Daft of the council to tell such a big fib.

Must be right wing soup, the bastards. One of the ones near me runs a right wing food bank and another holds regular right wing fair trade and crafts fairs.
