Reform UK

With all the chat about this political party on the news/radio recently I decided to have a read of their website and they have basically input a manifesto in prep for whenever the general election may be

Anyway they have very clearly marked their stance on the "gender ideology" camp by stating the below.

Obviously this group will put their best foot forward in regards to portraying themselves to politically homeless people like me

And I have heard opinions that this group are actually racist/bigots- can anyone share any further literature for me to explore in regards to this point?

As we potentially hurtle towards a general election and many of us on here have said gender ideology is the Hill we will die on politically would you consider reform?

I wouldn't vote for Reform UK under any circumstances.

Even a broken clock is right once a day, and even a bunch of bastards can state the reality of sex (without necessarily caring a hoot about women).

RemarkablyBrightCreature · 12/03/2024 13:09

Bad enough that the Tories are attracting votes on this issue, but Reform? God give me strength 😩

RufustheFactualReindeer · 12/03/2024 13:11

Not a hope of me voting for them

johnboyo · 12/03/2024 13:11

Their only MP 30p Lee starting yesterdays speech with 'we need to take back our county' would be a start.

Cazpar · 12/03/2024 13:11

Their only sitting MP is completely cracked and thinks London is being controlled by as-yet-unspecified "Islamists", who thinks nuisance tenants should be forced to live in tents with cold showers while they're forced into farm labour, and who thinks those who need to use food banks are lying.

I'm not even going to get into their complete denial of science over climate change and the idea that what we need is more open cast mines.

Wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 12/03/2024 13:18

Can't read that clip from their 'manifesto' without picturing some middle-aged bloke writing it while sitting in his pants, laptop balancing on his flabby thighs, face red with anger.
Anyone on any side of any argument who uses the word woke should probably give up politics and become a taxi driver.

You might find this interesting
https://news.sky.com/story/who-is-the-reform-party-where-did-they-come-from-and-what-are-their-policies-13056985

The four policies it touts the most are lower taxes, net zero immigration, cheaper energy, and zero waiting lists.
Other policies include offering vouchers to go private if you can't see a GP in three days, scrapping interest on student loans, increasing police numbers, keeping "woke ideologies out of the classroom", abolishing the TV licence fee, reforming the Lords and reducing "wasteful spending".
It also wants the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights, use offshore processing centres for illegal immigrants and prevent them from claiming asylum.
On energy, the party wants to scrap net zero plans and instead increase drilling for gas and oil.

Their 4 policies are things they haven't got a hope of delivering, because they are contradictory. How do you reduce waiting lists in the NHS to zero, whilst simultaneously stopping immigration (so the NHS will find it hard to get staff) and reducing taxes (so the NHS can't pay staff enough to attract them from within the UK).

The "net zero immigration" policy in particular shows dogwhistle racism as its impossible to achieve and would break the country if it was achieved (because of our aging population). They know this so they are just lying to attract voters who don't want to see so many brown and black faces in their community.

I wouldn't vote for any party that blatantly lies. Because how can you trust them to do anything that they say?

Who are the Reform Party, where did they come from and what are their policies?

The Reform Party is level with the Liberal Democrats according to Sky's polling - so here Sky News walks you through its key figures, its history, and what its policies are.

I am particularly enjoying how patriotic they are and how much they're going to make Britain great again, but they can't remember who our current monarch is.

Lazy, just like their use of English (something else you'd think they'd be on top of).

Think you'll find OP that contrary to the fantasies of a few, women on here are generally more left wing leaning. Reform's manifesto is of less interest than watching labour oh so slowly creeping back to a responsible and democratic position about women's rights and the safeguarding of children.
Starmer's rotating from his "mustn't be said that only women have a cervix" to "of course elite women's sport shouldn't include transwomen" being a good example.

Ilovejammies90 · 12/03/2024 13:35

Thanks everyone this is exactly what I was hoping for! Wide reaching evidence backed points, I massively appreciate it

Concerned about the point to "leave the European convention of human rights"😱

Although ultimately what's scary is once you delve deeper which is exactly what I wanted help with and you have all done this you obviously think "no fuck that" but for some people headline grabbing points will suck them in with no further research of analysis... which is terrifying!!

Who knows if multi-millionaire property tycoon and activist funder Richard Tice is racist? It certainly seems that he tends to be found at the head of organisations who are racist, or employing people who say racist things, like Lee Anderson. At the very least, racism only seems to bother him if he decides to perform outrage if he thinks someone is racist about white people.

I suppose much the same could have been said about the head of the Metropolitan Police. Which doesn't mean I'm letting Reform off the hook. There were police officers in the British Union of Fascists back in the day after all.

TheGreatGherkin · 12/03/2024 14:29

I would rather vote Labour than these lunatics and that is saying something.

therealcookiemonster · 12/03/2024 15:23

racism is just a tool to raise the fear levels of the population against a certain group in order to get them to vote for policies (brexit) or parties that will benefit the ultrarich. in reality the same people will happily deal with the wealthy from saudi/russia/Iran etc.

and while the underprivileged in this country are busy being incensed by immigrants/Muslims - the rug is being sold from under their feet.

NotTerfNorCis · 12/03/2024 15:26

No. Labour for me. I'd prefer a more left wing Labour but it's what we've got. There are serious issues in this country caused by underfunding and corruption. They need to be sorted out.

Britain first oppose self ID. I'm not voting for them either.

Itscatsallthewaydown · 12/03/2024 19:50

They’re a bunch of ghastly clowns

Theeyeballsinthesky · 12/03/2024 19:52

I wouldn’t vote for them if you paid me! Absolute clowns

Geebray · 12/03/2024 19:52

What the frick do they mean by " There are only 2 sexes and 2 genders".

There are only two sexes. There you go.

Geebray · 12/03/2024 19:53

Either you believe in genders, or you don't.

Lots of grandstanding but not one scrap of evidence. Zero contribution to debate but much empty virtue signalling.

You may well be right right but the OP quite rightly does not want to go on hearsay like this but asked for evidence.

OK so they don't believe in gender ideology but they do believe in gender stereotypes. Probably not my cup of tea.
