Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

That's good. I mean - it should be a given but here we are.

Chickenrunning · 01/03/2024 12:26

That is good but actually the article says ‘transgender police officers will only be allowed….’

I am equally concerned about female police officers being forced to strip search transwomen.

Froodwithatowel · 01/03/2024 12:30

Simplest policy is that trans officers don't do searches. No one needs to do searches. And before the inevitable wittering starts, yes, it will be outing in that colleagues will know that someone does not do searches and that may mean they're trans, but a) it is vanishingly unlikely that this isn't already very well known among colleagues and b) it's necessary and proportionate, and no one has to work for the police.

Pity it's only being looked into as it might not happen if Labour gets in at GE.

The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) said that each search is carried out on a 'case-by-case basis'.
'All searches are dealt with on a case-by-case basis after consideration by a custody sergeant based on the response of the detainee,' the NPCC said.
Based on the response of the detainee?? What response could possibly result in a female saying "sure i don't mind a man pawing at me in closed quarters where I can't legally say stop" or is that a threat - be good and get a biological female officer, misbehave/shouty and get a biological male?

Froodwithatowel · 01/03/2024 12:40

Ooh let's consider the optics and PR opportunities of Labour being the party who insists that men in the police must get to assault women.

Cynicism was justified.

But activists fear the NPCC is ignoring them and that new guidance will still allow transgender officers to strip-search women.
At a consultation last week, police allegedly referenced a claim that there are '72 recognised genders' and said a trans activist lawyer is working on the review. The NPCC chairman Gavin Stephens is now facing calls for the entire process to be scrapped and restarted with a new adviser.

The campaigners are also angry their consultation responses are to be given to trans activist barrister Robin Moira White, who has previously branded equalities minister Kemi Badenoch and Equality and Human Rights Commission chairman Baroness Falkner 'evil'.

Fury as police fail to stop transgender officers strip-searching

After an outcry earlier this year, the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) withdrew guidance permitting biological males identifying as female to intimately search women.

🤦‍♀️
It’s like the Parades Commission being advised by Drew Nelson/PSNI asking him if stuff’s sectarian. (Before he died, I mean. Not saying RMW’s advice is so shite it’s seance-level; just wildly biased).
