Looks likely to win the Rochdale by-election.
Does anyone know his position on gender ideology?

Here’s hoping the independent chap who came in second keeps on campaigning and stands again, GG is on limited time with the next GE looming and Rochdale deserve an MP who actually gives a shit about the area.

George Galloway is like Eddie Izzard, constantly prowling around for a constituency with a weak point.

The establishment parties have made absolute twits of themselves in this by election (still, it’s hilariously conceited of GG to suggest that a win for him could result in Keir Starmer being forced out as Labour leader - winning on 39% turn out with no official Labour or Green candidates is not the earth shaking win Galloway would like to present it as).

I can’t help but wonder what Tony Lloyd would’ve thought of it all.

” God created everything in pairs.”

That sentence alone is reason enough to keep someone out of parliament.

Ah, a leftwing counterpart to Matt Walsh.

I think Gorgeous George is funny, but also quite dangerous which is not funny.
I like mavericks in general because all of our political parties need as many thorns in their sides as possible. It keeps them awake.

Here's a little treat for you all from June 2021.
22 minutes of Gorgeous George befuddling and running rings around the toddling intellect that is Little Owen Jones who "just can't understand". No matter what you think of Gorgeous George I think you will end up with a smile on your face.

Left wing? No, probably conservative with a small C. Though I will be voting Labour to help rid the nation of the useless shower it has atm. Just an atheist who believes that extreme religious views have no place in politics.

Who’s Matt Walsh? Off to google 😁

SinisterBumFacedCat · 01/03/2024 10:45

He has virtue signalled his way to power. It’s kind of terrifying that people are willing to fall for his obvious bullshit.

He also seems to be dressing like Boy George now.

He won. 🙈

To, probably, misquote the bard, 'oh mischief, thou art afoot'.

SomeCatFromJapan · 01/03/2024 11:57

It's interesting how he can turn a blind eye to a variety of murderous dictators. Quite a selective sense of moral outrage, our Georgie.

Yes to this^

I meant he was Matt Walsh's left-wing counterpart, not you.

Matt Walsh is an American social media influencer whose strong religious beliefs and conservative convictions lead him to oppose female sports commentators (who intrude upon the masculine sphere in his opinion), pregnant rape victims accessing abortion, women waiting to have their first child until their 20s/30s, and gender ideology. He made a documentary interviewing trans activists, asking them to define what women are. It's useful when someone with his platform publicises the inanity of trans activists, but I would never ever vote for him to hold any public office.

Unmitigated Galloway - Washington Examiner

EVERY JOURNALIST HAS A LIST of regrets: of stories that might have been. Somewhere on my personal list is an invitation I received several years ago, from a then-Labour member of parliament named George Galloway. Would I care, he inquired, to join him...

Thanks for that. God I miss Hitchens (this one, not the other one)

George Galloway is like Eddie Izzard, constantly prowling around for a constituency with a weak point.

It's so shameless I don't understand why voters don't see through it with Galloway. Heartening to see a proper local independent do well in second though.

IcakethereforeIam · 01/03/2024 13:25

Yes, the result with the local independent is much more interesting. I know it's a by-election and they can throw up some odd results, but perhaps it's a promising sign for smaller parties like Posie's.

Considering he hamstrung his campaign a little (see above) he did astonishingly well.

I think many people don't want to vote for Keir Starmer's party. It's just the least worse option to the Tories. Give them an alternative (Reform, the Greens) and many will go for it. Just need to get your name and policies out there so you're not just seen as a joke like Lord Buckethead.

Not sure, but he definitely knows what a pussy is.
(If you've not seen it, don't google it. No amount of brain bleach can erase the memory)

That is so so true.

BackToLurk · 01/03/2024 13:43

I see Galloway's return has also seen the awful Chris Williamson rearing his ugly head again, like a particularly shit Brucie bonus

nauticant · 01/03/2024 13:49

Chris Williamson was on Radio 4 first thing claiming that it was the Israeli military that killed the Israeli civilians on 7 October.

'He’s good on gender and I think he’s good on most issues'

I agree 100% he is very anti imperialist which I agree with. He does come across as a bit of a dick though, and has been ruthlessly smeared for decades now.

Have you actually read anything about George Galloway. Anything at all?

BackToLurk · 01/03/2024 14:38

Entirely unverifiable story, just for laughs

George Galloway
TinaBarrow · 01/03/2024 14:53

It's very simple, Galloway is a working-class traditionalist man/patriarch. He believes in God. He is neither liberal nor a feminist.
He knows that sex is real.
He also has a giant ego.
If you want to know more, listen to him on YouTube, if you can put up with his arrogance. Get it from the horse's mouth rather than state-sponsored media.

No 'probably' about it, if you vote Labour you are not any sort of conservative, big or small C.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 01/03/2024 15:08

This could get messy, as funnily enough, we have regular posters who insist voting Labour doesn't make you left-wing.

People with unbroken voting records of ticking red, no matter what, get told they're conservative!

PermanentTemporary · 01/03/2024 15:40

I think it's possible to vote differently from your overall views and to keep those views?

  • personal vote for or against a candidate
  • your views don't map closely with a party (tbh whose do?)
  • single issue vote at one time
  • parties change
