The Adult Gender Identity Service run by the Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust has not closed down and there are no proposals to close it. It recommends and refers adults for surgery. I understand that 17 year olds are now being referred there, directly or from GIDS. If so, that is very concerning.)

Mr Goodhead told the i that the group claim over "the efficacy of the treatment" could run into millions of pounds. In a statement from the firm today he said: "We must not shut down debate on account of a fear of discussing gender identity and those responsible must be held accountable. We anticipate that at least 1000 clients will join this action. It is vital that those children and young adolescents have access to justice. That is why we are taking this case."
A spokesperson for the firm told MedscapeUK that the claim was "likely to be filed in the next few months" and that the expert witnesses likely to be called in support will be announced in due course.

I hope all those who have been harmed are successful in getting compensation.
NHS Trusts are insured against medical malpractice suits, so awards do not come out of the budget for patient services. The insurance premium for the Trust will go up though.

I hope they go after the Commissioners (NHS England) too, for allowing and enabling this to go on. GIDS did exactly what they were commissioned to do, even if they did so incompetently. The Service Specification drawn up by the Commissioners caused enough harm even without GIDS fulfilling its requirements incompetently.

Something I have wondered about is whether Gender Identity Ideology/Transgenderism and Queer Theory would have been able to get such a grip across the world without Critical Theory/Social Justice?
Is Critical Theory the soil in which it flourishes? Or is it a seven-headed hydra and we are doing battle with one of its heads, while being hampered by another - the attack on freedom of thought and expression?
Amy has got an all-encompassing definition of "Woke" and the list of synonyms she suggests seems to have something for everyone in the broad "anti-woke" camp - but some will alienate certain factions, eg. "Paganism" will appeal to devout Christians but seem ludicrous to others.
