Drag queen 'doll workshop'

Make your own drag doll at Exeters Craft event....

I've been to many of these craft shows and this is definitely not the target audience for this sort of thing - mostly conservative card makers, very traditional type fabrics/embroidery etc. there are several coaches of mainly older ladies who spend the whole day here..

I'm not sure who they are trying to attract with this workshop, but there are a lot of families with children who come at the weekend.

I could imagine some poor kid turning up at show and tell with his creation at school - interesting stealth tactic?

28 quid! I've got loads of old rope here if anyone want to buy some.

This takes me back to when me and my brother used to dress up Action Man in Sindy's dresses and tiaras and drive him around in Sindy's pink car.
For free!

Drag is an adult entertainment act and shouldn't have any involvement at a show of any kind where there will be children.

Cats What GIF by Tondrakht

Do kids need to go to a special session to do that to their toys? And what adult in their right mind would want to spend £28 doing that????

PaperWalkAndTalk · 23/02/2024 14:47

I wouldn't be too concerned about this, commercial pressures mean that this won't last long as there's no money to be made from dragging up Action Men.

Celestiel · 23/02/2024 15:04

I have questions - are they just being 'dressed up' in hideous drag dresses? (The like of which no real woman has ever worn), or are there options for kink/fetish wear, have other parts been painted on like the face modifications?

Some years ago there was a popular phrase "put a bird on it"
i.e slap a bird image on any old shite to signify coolness and make it appeal to the crowd

"Put a drag queen on it" really has become the modern equivalent of that.
From TV to fashion to kids' storytime to fucking craft shows in Exeter!

Is this definitely, definitely real?
The actual picture they used/the whole concept feels more like a cruel parody of trans people or drag queens. Especially the dolled up action man in the "transporter" - if someone of the Terfy persuasion posted that online it would definitely be seen as very unpleasant transphobia.

But I thought at first Dylan Mulvaney was a parody too so...

TrainedByCatsToBeScathing · 23/02/2024 15:19

My initial reaction is to think this is a parody and a funny one at that. But there has been no parody so absurd that they haven’t run with it and insisted it’s reality

Celestiel · 23/02/2024 16:36

Definitely real - I'm on their Facebook page and this delight popped up yesterday, been watching the comments...

They are targeting children because they are impressionable. It’s insidious indoctrination.

Find the organisers. Make a complaint. Get everyone here to make a complaint. Say it should be for over 18s.

There isn't anything saying it's for kids??
But I'm sure that's the intention...
