So a local theatre is offering a International Women's week

"The remarkable lineup includes two photographic exhibitions, an evening of theatre in development, a musical performance showcasing pioneering women, as well as talks and workshops - all led, created or inspired by female and female-identifying artists"

So we can't have female now 🙄 I would like to respond

It's not women's week if men are involved. Why must these men be inserted into everything for women. It's gone past ridiculous.

Identifying as a female is a step further than identifying as a woman. When it's used, 'female' stops having any biological definition. Indeed, there is then no word left for the group previously called 'women and girls'.

It has stopped existing, we are down to one sex, the male one (which is still allowed to be the target group for prostate cancer education, say), and then this large amorphous group of all others. Mobilising women as a political group (sex class) with specific shared issues becomes impossible when we cannot even mention its existence.

We can’t even have mumsnet without men elbowing their way in. It’s depressing.
