Thanks Happy. I look forward to seeing it.

It's an interesting watch. The accounts from children / young people are very sad and the descriptions of what's happening in schools in the USA is chilling. Very good to hear so many articulate people fighting back but there's a massive hill to climb with this ideology being promoted directly from the White House.

Emotionalsupportviper · 18/02/2024 20:54

Thank you - I'll watch this.

ArabellaScott · 18/02/2024 22:18

Crikey, shared by Elon Musk. Sunlight is streaming.

dapsnotplimsolls · 18/02/2024 23:57

I haven't watched it but I'm hazarding a guess that money plays a significant role?

mrsmalaprop · 19/02/2024 00:10

It is very thorough and very interesting. I don't know much about these people. Robby Starbuck was a music video producer and stood for congress as a Republican. They have a montage at the end of them showing off about being great parents and letting their children shoot guns in the back garden. So American.

But it covers every angle and the interviews are interesting. The Drag Queen one didn't rest go as expected...

We need something this comprehensive in the UK. The ones we have are talking heads and not quite so engaging.

mrsmalaprop · 19/02/2024 00:12

Or, for that matter, someone on the political left making something similar. It's such a polarising left/right issue in the states and I think that tribalism is a massive sticking point. It's why we keep being branded 'far right' because that's where the pushback is coming in the US. Lefties are not going to support the likes of Matt Walsh and this pair even with an issue like this, sadly.

I think it's important for full disclosure. This movie is being sold - pay to view - in three places according to the website. https://thewaronchildren.com/

It's free to watch on Elon's feed. Maybe I don't understand things properly, but I have to assume Elon may have paid the creators a chunk of money to be able to have it on his feed with no paywall.
I intend to watch the movie myself and make my own mind up. I have no stake for against this movie. Just I think disclosure is important.

Elon is doing good work exposing the truth behind this ideology, Transgender Trend are also promoting it & I honestly think it's accurate & terrifying....social media is harming children in so many ways

Why has is seeped over to the UK with such gusto. Time was we would snigger at ‘those crazy yanks’ with their support miniature ponies on aeroplanes (I remember seeing this on a tv show when I was little and everyone was laughing at how silly it was) Now we have people giving evidence in court with their mummies and support dogs in tow (and this was an grown adult in a relatively senior job)

PurpleBugz · 19/02/2024 21:20

It was sunlight for sure. The message about social media is very important and it shone light on the motives behind the movement.

I would be interested to hear peoples thoughts on the call for men to be men in this video. There was an undertone of male and female roles being important and the message that strong men protect their children from this stuff. Where does this leave us in the fight for equality? I can't say the message is wrong looking at examples i know from my own life, absent or weak fathers are a theme I can observe but I'm not comfortable with this. Can women alone not protect our children? Can we not be good parents without a strong man in the home? Even now there is more sunlight on this issue it seems to be only gaining momentum now men are speaking up in greater numbers. I will be doing some thinking on it certainly

nauticant · 19/02/2024 22:12

To be fair, the call for men to stand up was in direct response that women were standing up but largely the men were absent, and that was wrong, they should also be standing up.

It's a real mixed bag of a film. Largely factual but with some myths and conspiracy theories included. You can understand why, they're presenting to the audience they know, but it will be alienating for many undecideds.

Hepwo · 19/02/2024 22:21

A fair chunk of this problem is that men want women to deal with men that identify as women. Men don't want to.

We can see this running through the Labour party like the messages in a stick of rock.

Trans identified men can be hived off for women to accommodate. Nothing to do with men.

Well it's a man problem. And men can step up. I am onside with that.

I understand what you are saying and agree to a large extent.

However, we need men to step up as it is largely men causing the problems!

I may not be reading things properly but it seems with lap dancing clubs, legal or almost legal prostitution, only fans, porn hub etc that male members of society need to be held to a higher standard.

And it may well be that the more freely available stuff is (ie the sale of sex etc), the more boundries will be pushed?

You are right, @yesmen . It's a well known and well-researched fact that pornography ceases to stimulate (particularly when used to excess), and more and more extreme "scenarios" are required - like any drug, people become acclimated and require stronger and stronger fixes to achieve the same result.

Horribly, where pornography is concerned, this is likely to mean extremes of brutality - women, children, vulnerable people of both sexes, and animals being subjected to increasingly sadistic practices.

It's a never-ending spiral of horror.

@Nauticant which bits did you think were myths/conspiracy theories? Thanks
