Prison reform advocate Lady Edwina Grosvenor on men in womens prisons

Short snippet in the DM:

"One of her godmothers was Princess Diana, while her brother is the Duke of Westminster and her husband the broadcaster Dan Snow.
But there's never been any danger that Lady Edwina Grosvenor would content herself with a life of cossetted privilege - hence her intervention in the troubling matter of violent male sex offenders 'identifying' as women.
'Why on earth would you put them in a women's prison?' asks Edwina, who, since graduating in criminology and sociology, has been both a founder investor and ambassador of the Clink restaurant chain, which trains former inmates for careers in catering.
'Prisons are about risk,' points out Edwina, who's also founder of One Small Thing, an organisation dedicated to reforming the justice system for the good of mothers and children."

I'm very glad to see someone born to great wealth and privilege, and who is very unlikely ever to find herself in jail, is so involved in the lives of the less fortunate. She's continuing the traditions of her Victorian philanthropic foremothers.

Well said, that woman
Hope the TRAs leave Dan Snow alone because of this. He's a good dude too.

This is such a weird coincidence for me.

I was just listening to Dan Snow's history hit podcast on the way home, about the rise of Hitler. He mentioned at one point the involvement of one Hugo Boss in the manufacture of the German military uniforms in Hitler's era.

Then I read the OP. I had no idea who Dan was married to, so I google Lady Edwina. Got some pics of her and Dan, and an ad beside it for - Hugo Boss!

Anyway, anything or anyone who raises the issue of TWs in women's prisons is OK and fine by me. The more light.....

Good on her - she is immensely privileged and is using that privilege in the best way possible, to speak out on important topics.

A bit like JKR, nothing can really touch her.

I'm appalled that the Howard League have been silent on this, as have Prison Reform Trust, not to mention Women In Prison who are hopeless at campaigning for actual women....Its tragic how many charities just don't do what they were set up to do.
