Did this get posted? If so I missed it, and a quick search doesn't find it.

and on their own site

https://mermaidsuk.org.uk/news/mermaids-appoints-lauren-stoner-as-permanent-ceo/

Key quotes:

"The transgender support charity Mermaids has appointed its interim head, Lauren Stoner, as its chief executive on a two-year, fixed-term basis.
Stoner became the charity’s interim chief executive in December 2022, replacing Susie Green, who had led the organisation for six years.
A spokesperson for Mermaids said the decision to give Stoner a two-year contract was to “enable the ongoing stabilisation of the charity” before the conclusion of the Charity Commission’s inquiry, which was opened in 2022.
It will also enable authentic consultation on transgender leadership across the organisation and a well-planned and resourced recruitment process to appoint the best possible successor, they said."

"Kathryn Downs, incoming chair of Mermaids, said: “Lauren has demonstrated impressive leadership, implemented new working practices and, in particular, begun the crucial process of improving the culture at Mermaids."

She is quoted as saying "I’m delighted that we’ve appointed a new chair designate who is herself trans" - who's that, anyone remember?

"She said: “I’ve never worked in an organisation experiencing this level of hostility and external scrutiny, and that is phenomenally taxing for everyone who works and volunteers at Mermaids.”" I bet!

So is it Lauren or Kathryn that's trans?

If Downs was pushed, shoved and kicked it wasn't bordering on assault, it was assault.

I hope and trust Downs reported these assaults to the police.

Oh! Going by the thread title (and Mermaids disastrous history of inappropriate appointing) I thought you meant something along these lines:

That was my first thought too. Being off their collective tits would have explained a lot...

As did I!

Yes I'm afraid that was my first thought too!

OceanicBoundlessness · 12/02/2024 16:35

Ditto

Froodwithatowel · 12/02/2024 16:56

What the heck is an 'authentic consultation'?

Is everyone else just faking theirs?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/02/2024 17:01

Yes I agree, odd wording!

WarriorN · 12/02/2024 18:10

authentic consultation matches ones authentic self, a bit like matching shoes and hand bag.

SiobhanSharpe · 12/02/2024 18:15

There's a different photo of Downs if you follow the BBC News link and read the story.

Literal violence is not literal violence but everything else is...

JanesLittleGirl · 12/02/2024 19:16

Literal doesn't literally mean literal.

Yep.

We've seen so many dodgy characters:
The gun toting guide leader dressed only in underwear...
The chap who exposed their penis at work and in public(students?)
NSPCC gimp suit wanking at work
Someone who took their child abroad for an op that is illegal in the UK...

Can't think why we might all be jumping to the wrong conclusion

Runningwildish · 12/02/2024 23:25

It's literal violence to call him a man
