Thoughts with the woman who remains in hospital, and her two girls. May they all have lots of support and help to heal.

Clapham attack latest: Police believe Abdul Shokoor Ezedi's body in the Thames - BBC News

It is likely Abdul Shokoor Ezedi died after going into the river at Chelsea Bridge, police say, but his remains are yet to be found.

They don't know for certain. It's the most likely possibility though.

DeedlessIndeed · 09/02/2024 17:09

I don't want to sound vindictive, I don't agree with capital punishment and I would never dream of saying this about someone who had killed themselves in other circumstances.

However, I wish he had had to feel the suffering and experience the impairment that his female victim is going to have to endure. It doesn't seem fair he had such an easy out.

BitingtheSkirting · 09/02/2024 17:13

An eye for an eye, Deedless?

Babadook76 · 09/02/2024 17:15

What a ridiculous conclusion. So he was seen near a bridge? That means he probably killed himself? Despite no one seeing it and there being no body? Talk about speculation 🙄

stealtheatingtunnocks · 09/02/2024 17:16

They must have footage of him on the bridge but not leaving the bridge, then?

MorrisZapp · 09/02/2024 17:16

They reported he was walking backwards and forwards on Chelsea Bridge, and climbed on the wall. There's no clear image of him jumping. It's all based on cctv.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/02/2024 17:16

BBC said he was seen leaning over the bridge. I would assume that there's no CCTV footage of him leaving the bridge if this is their conclusion.

IcakethereforeIam · 09/02/2024 17:17

I understand he had claimed to have converted to Christianity but, apparently, despite that was still an observant Muslim. It reminds me of the Scottish politician smugly asserting that abusive men never pretend to be something else.

If he is dead I'm not glad but I'm not sorry. I wish the people he harmed all the best and reserve admiration for the ones who stepped in to help them.

PicklesAndTequila · 09/02/2024 17:19

Well I can't say I'm sorry about it.

Sidebeforeself · 09/02/2024 17:20

Call me cynical, but I worry it might be the policing giving up and assuming this to be the outcome rather than admit they haven’t got a clue where he is.

CuntingBunting · 09/02/2024 17:21

I'm very much opposed to the death penalty and I don't want to hate anyone, wouldn't wish violence on anyone. But this result, if this is what has happened, seems to be the better one for all involved, including him.

OP posts:
fedupandstuck · 09/02/2024 17:23

There's no footage on any cctv of him leaving the bridge area, having been able to pick him up on the cctv before hand. So, with that and the "change of behaviour" they talk about being able to see, they've decided that it is most likely that he's gone in the river. It doesn't seem to be an unreasonable conclusion based on that.

Redannie118 · 09/02/2024 17:25

I live in Newcastle( where he originally lived and travelled from) and theres still a very large police presence searching for him here. They raided his former place of work just yesterday and were following up several local leads, so it still seems like an active search.

EasternStandard · 09/02/2024 17:25

I’d rather they confirm it for certain

Signalbox · 09/02/2024 17:29

I understand he had claimed to have converted to Christianity but, apparently, despite that was still an observant Muslim. It reminds me of the Scottish politician smugly asserting that abusive men never pretend to be something else.

I still can’t believe that a claim to have converted to Christianity helps a convicted sex offender to successfully claim asylum. It’s no different to men claiming to be trans to gain access to the female prison estate. Why are all these officials so stupid. And why does nobody give a shit about the women and children who invariably suffer the consequences?! Is there ever a good reason for a sex offender to be granted asylum (even if he is at risk in his home country)?

I suspect (and hope) he is dead. It would have been difficult for him to have disappeared and hidden for so long.

CuntingBunting · 09/02/2024 17:29

EasternStandard · 09/02/2024 17:25

That would be good, but it sounds as though they may not be able to? With that facial injury he will not be able to hide for very long, I think.

Until they have his body, I will be assuming he is still alive.

IClaudine · 09/02/2024 17:30

I really hope they are sure.

LarkLane · 09/02/2024 17:34

A working hypothesis from the Met apparently.
In other words, it's their best guess.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 09/02/2024 17:43

I don't believe it. His type don't take the easy way out. He's got someone covering for him.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 09/02/2024 17:51

If they are wrong then he is suffering somewhere.

I suppose a network could look after him and find him sympathetic doctor or a vet but those burns will be very painful and likely to get infected.

I’m not sure how easy it is to get an underground medic with access to drugs who doesn’t mind that you tried to burn the face off a woman and kids.

Riapia · 09/02/2024 17:51

I still can’t believe that a claim to have converted to Christianity helps a convicted sex offender to successfully claim asylum.
I wonder what the vetting system is like to prove you have changed your ways.
😉😁😁

pickledandpuzzled · 09/02/2024 17:56

To be fair, it’s not because he was a Christian so must have reformed. It’s because he would be persecuted for it if returned to his country. So absolutely a scam. Absolutely not about reform or good behaviour. He just acquired another point on his application.

@Sidebeforeself

thats a possibility for sure. However, they have said they've started looking for his body & that the Thames usually takes around 28 days to bring the body out into the open. So I'm hoping they do what they've said because the very least that poor woman & her little girls deserve is to know the fucker is dead. It's not punishment enough (but what would be??) but at least to know for certain he's not lurking around any dark corners.

They didn't say they'd seen him throw himself off the bridge, & they did say they've searched all surrounding CCTV & can't see him leaving the bridge. But I'm sure that's all massaging the truth a bit. Hopefully they did see him go in.

im so happy the three of them survived, but FM, the trauma...
