I honest to god have no words.... I knew Lancing had gone into steep decline over the years but not to the extent where they'd have to resort to this to get some money in!

It's all well and good not to "kink shame" but surely society has to draw the line bloody SOMEWHERE?!

Also, imagine pretending not to know that this has anything to do with kink and fetish?!

Children's soft play area used for adults in nappies event

A mum has told of her shock after a soft play area hosted a party for adults dressed as babies.

Given that some men enjoy spreading their bodily fluids around in the knowledge others might come in contact with it, and the fact that men with sexual perversions are more likely to have multiple sexual contacts, I’d say the risks of STDs would be increased as well. However much vomit there is in a ball pool, norovirus is less serious than HIV.

I doubt the staff would be watching closely enough to stop these men doing exactly what they want.

Even if the risks are small, they can easily (and undoubtedly should) be removed altogether.

ADoggyDogWorld · 08/02/2024 17:40

Is Lancing by the seaside?

Perhaps the group of adult fetish indulgers wanted to go rub themselves on the groynes, the lexical perverts.

It is, yeah - Urgh, now you've got me thinking about the outdoor playground and equipment on beach green and what fetishists may well have done to that!

You know full well they've never been cleaned other than by the weather, the council would never fork out for that... 😷
This has given me so much to think about that never even crossed my mind before!
Feel like a total idiot for not considering that leaving "fluids" around children's areas is a thing that grown men can and will do if so inclined.

Also feeling absolutely ILL that I don't really remember having my hands cleaned very often or at all after playing on that sort of thing as a child, especially as a bloody thumb sucker! 😷😷😷

Anyone know where I can buy stocks in Dettol? Think I'll need it.
So glad hand sanitiser is now the norm to have on hand after Covid!

Any soft play centre that doesn't understand adult baby nappy wearing is a sexual fetish have got to be either fucking kidding me, or they have a naivety problem that means they shouldn't be running it.

The more explicit people are about these fetishes, the better.

I agree.

One of my local soft plays turned out to be being run by a paedo who installed hidden cameras in the ladies loos. This was only discovered when he was caught filming school girls in the unisex "changing village" at the local pool.

That metal smell from swing chains? Metal doesn't smell like that. That's the smell of human skin oils on metal.

Mmmmmmmmm.

I’m sorry but cynically I think it’s because these adults get off in being in a real children’s space.

I'm very much afraid that you are correct, it's exactly what they want. There's at least one full sized adult soft play in London, all equipment and even the balls in the ball pit more adequately sized. This is just skin crawling.

ThereIbledit · 08/02/2024 18:28

“A space themed soft play exclusively open to all age players. SoLittles, Middles, Carers, Mummies, Daddies, Siblings, Furries, Kittens, Puppies, their handlers and wet only ABDL,” the advert on Fetlife read."
...it was not until “after the first event we were made aware of the community’s link to fetish and kink groups”. (yeah, right)
Organisers stated they operated a strict “no wet accidents” rule and banned nudity, sexual acts, BDSM/fetish clothes and faeces.

"WET ONLY ABDL (Adult Baby Diaper Lovers). which means no faeces (thank goodness for small mercies...) but which one is it? Wet only nappies, or no wet accidents? Because they directly contradict themselves right there.

Wild Wonderland said it was assured the event was not of a sexual nature and would be advertised on encrypted instant messaging service Telegram.

Well it was advertised on the biggest kink site going, too.

It was by no means a kink/fetish party. It was a regressive play session.

IT WAS ADVERTISED ON FUCKING FETLIFE AND THEY'RE STILL SAYING IT WASN'T KINK FFS

It's all well and good not to "kink shame" but surely society has to draw the line bloody SOMEWHERE?!

I'd argue that the line should be drawn well short of anything that could be construed as harmful in any way to anyone.

My socially-liberal instincts leap to agree with people when they say that if they're not harming anyone else, they shouldn't be shamed. Whatever my personal feelings on an activity, my automatic position would be that if there's no harm, there should be no shame, disapproval or taboo, and that what people do in private or in agreed venues (and with consenting others) shouldn't be the subject of opprobrium.

But with kink, fetishes, and other sexual turn-ons, tabooness — something being forbidden and naughty — is a big part of what gets some people going and gets them off. If we create a society where the only things which are truly taboo, and the only things which are considered disgusting and shameful, are things which actually merit taboo, disgust and shame because they're harmful to others, that means that anyone who needs taboo or shame to get off is pushed towards things that are actually harmful.

So despite my socially liberal leanings, my pragmatic side suggests that it's a social good for people to have access to a wide array of shameful, taboo, but ultimately harmless sexual pursuits, and therefore we should societally continue to ridicule, criticise and disapprove of certain harmless fetishes and deviances where part of the appeal for some people is the shame, humiliation, or risk of being caught.

(Obviously this wouldn't include things like sexual orientation, where shame makes no difference to it and only causes suffering.)

Thank you, @ChocolateRat , for very clearly writing out something that's been at the back of my brain for a while now.

I have no problem with people indulging their kinks if everyone around is a consenting adult (including staff in the venues where they do their stuff). But there is something deeply disturbing about this happening in a place where actual children will be. Do it at the local sex club for sure. Not in a play place for actual children.

Rightsraptor · 08/02/2024 18:57

'Who are we to judge and discriminate?' the company asks.

There are times when it's right and proper to do both of those things. And this was one of them.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 08/02/2024 19:01

Fetishes escalate.

If they're booking a children's soft play, that means imagining being a child at home is no longer enough. They need the knowledge that a few hours before, children used the same play equipment, and will do so again.

So what's the next step up from that?

I completely agree. I would question their ability to have ample measures to safeguard children.

Oh god. The things people will agree to (host, in this case) when the price is right. It’s so depressing how people will sell out when something is so flagrantly wrong.

I am no prude, considered woke and have no problem with people’s fetishes at home providing they’re not illegal or immoral, but FFS is nowhere sacred nowadays? Like school uniform, nappies have no place as a fetish!

I would go as far as to believe that people running a soft play area may well be uninformed about adult sexual fetishes. That’s not a stretch for me.

However, in light of being informed, the sort of stubborn refusal to judge and discriminate in order to protect their normal client base is ridiculous. Absolutely it was right and proper for this company to judge and to ‘discriminate’ (nicely loaded word that).

Of course people have to judge and discriminate all the time in terms of eg do I trust this unknown person offering me a lift or hire that person etc etc.

This stubborn (sullen? Defensive? Sanctimonious?) refusal to admit to needing to judge by many is leading to a lot of problems for our society. What these business owners perhaps mean is that they didn’t want to discriminate against fee paying customers for that extra bit of cash.

Yet you only have to look at the news today and it is full of distressed parents and young people that have been actively harmed by those who’ve resolutely refused to judge. We’ve somehow gone from Mary Whitehouse to anything goes and that’s okay.

Boiledbeetle · 08/02/2024 19:52

“Although the event was not at all sexual, kinky or fetish based, we were very aware it could make customers feel uncomfortable, something that we never want to do.

my god they are so stupid! In what normal world is a grown adult pretending to be a baby doing 'regressive age play' not fetish based!? Absolute bloody idiots

RightWhatNow · 08/02/2024 20:11

This is disgusting.

I know one man who had an adult baby fetish. He also had a porn addiction that escalated into looking at images/ videos that I don’t need to spell out.

I would suggest that the police get hold of the list of attendees and start looking through their internet history.

Soubriquet · 08/02/2024 20:28

imagine being married to someone who actually enjoys pissing and shitting in a nappy..

OneMorePlant · 08/02/2024 21:21

Revolting.

AnActualAsexual · 08/02/2024 21:23

Admittedly I am perhaps not the best person to judge these things; but having to wear nappies (well, whatever continence stuff’s cheapest once the prescription runs out [not getting prescribed an adequate amount is a huge issue, but obviously not one for here!] & often that’s nappies 🤷‍♀️) is awkward, inconvenient & tbh somewhat embarrassing.

I can’t imagine choosing to wear nappies; & as someone all too often treated like a child by strangers, I really can’t imagine not only actively infantilising yourself; but also parentificating your partner.

Hicc · 08/02/2024 21:32

The place was sanitised afterwards, as usual. But did they do a check for hidden cameras, for example in the (real) baby areas?

Not only did this event cater for the revolting weirdos listed in the article, but if it was advertised on Fetlife, who else may have attended? For example, those who want unrestricted to a kids soft play area for a very specific reason...

Oh fucking hell, I didn’t even consider this.

Fetaa · 08/02/2024 21:48

The owners must be pretty stupid not to realise the link between grown men dressing as babies, a ban on sex in the ball pit and kink fetish.

Let's consider the judgement and discrimination suffered by parents whose children still need nappies due to disabilities then. I've seen people call those poor families environmentally irresponsible.

But it's apparently fine for healthy adults to wear nappies for the sake of a fetish? Damn right I'm judging. I went to a lot of effort to minimise our household use of disposable nappies, and I'm not going to turn a blind eye to adults wearing them for fun.
