A press release from the Department of Foreign Affairs listed some of Professor Michael O’Flaherty’s many achievements, the most recent being his role as director of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency.

But conspicuous by its absence was the role O’Flaherty played as rapporteur for the original 2006 Yogyakarta Principles (YP) which are marketed as the authoritative underpinning of gender identity ideology and which are having such an insidious and malign influence in many countries around the world as they affect women, children, lesbians and even gay men. This ideology attempts to usurp the reality of there being just two sexes with the harmful promotion of the unevidenced belief in a “gender identity”.

My country loves to be seen to be at the cutting edge of ideologies that sound wonderfully liberal and progressive. As long as they don't cost any money.

Head-in-hands moment 😠 I don't believe our public representatives have ever really thought through the Gender Recognition Act or the YPs - in fact they probably don't know what the YPs are, but isn't that O'Flaherty a great man altogether?
They don't want to look like phobic old farts again, because lots of them were probably unenthusiastic about gay rights, and that didn't turn out well for them, so now they've suspended their critical faculties to mindlessly, or cynically, cheer on the trans juggernaut as it rolls over education, medicine, the law, language, half the population, common sense, justice, sport, etc. etc.
Shameful.
