In today’s paper, Zoe Williams has a piece on decriminalising abortion in which she refers to “women”. Not cisgender women and transmen, not people with uteruses.

How will this be perceived by transmen who may feel excluded from the statistic “one in three British women will [seek an abortion] at some point”?

I applaud ZW’s straightforward use of correct language but surely someone should point out her insensitivity to both transmen and transwomen? Or does writing a column for money mean you can ditch ideological allegiance in favour of plain language that doesn’t mince words?

Tongue as far into cheek as it will go….
