This is a great video of someone using critical thinking to explore whether jkr is transphobia or not.

I found it really encouraging!

When a STUDENT asks about JK ROWLING this happens

#jkrowling #debate You will see the transformation / epiphany occur in real time. A critical thinking exercise with students about not what to think, but how...

It's excellent.

It's well stepped through, but it's alarming that anyone of average intellect or above needs to be stepped through like this.

Taking other peoples opinion as fact without checking back to the original statements.... well it's just so basic!

I watched that last night and thought it was great. Goes to show how people have forgotten how to think for themselves.

Who is he?? He is adorbs 🥰

As soon as you get anyone to calmly answer general questions about transactivism, it becomes apparent that they run into a wall where they either

a) answer honestly and realise that the whole basis of transactivist demands are illogical or
b) start to insult you and back off from answering

This is what ought to be happening in universities everywhere, but most have abandoned critical thinking of this type.

I have a feeling maybe the conversation is staged? Not in a fake news sort of way more as a sort of instructional video in how to have a conversation without screaming/as an example of what critical thinking looks like. There are more than one video like this with the same professor and what sounds like the same voice.

WarriorN · 01/02/2024 16:20

Oooh hes gorgeous!

I agree - there doesn't seem to be any context about who these people are or why their conversation was filmed.

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/02/2024 20:24

Who is he?!? He's fantastic. Exactly the calm, rational thinking we need.

fedupandstuck · 01/02/2024 21:37

He's called Warren Smith, as a quick perusal of his social media reveals. He seems to be a film maker and teacher of film related topics.

I am absolutely not sitting here thinking variations of that, at all. 😶

Warren made a video about contrapoints and ever since then has been targeted

I hope his employers are being supportive.

Cant stand when people try and get someone fired for an opinion.

In this case, he didn’t even state an opinion, just encouraged someone else to examine theirs.

I wish I could say I was surprised though

Tallisker · 21/02/2024 14:39

After the first video with the student, I clicked through to the interview with Piers
Morgan where he says it was an exercise and warm up to being on camera and to start it off, the student was encouraged to ask any old question just to get talking. And the question about JKR was the question out by the student.
