Does Leeds need a women's centre - survey asking for thoughts

I am not quite sure how this came about, but there is a survey being circulated about setting up a Women's Centre in Leeds by Women and Girls Alliance in Leeds https://womenandgirlsallianceleeds.org.uk/

There are a lot of questions about "Women Only" provision, but doesn't specify what they mean by women only.

And at the end they ask about gender, prior to asking about sex (well at least they ask about sex). But no option to say you dont have a gender other than in the space for other gender identity where I suppose you could say none.

I am not in Leeds, and doubt they want to hear from anyone from other areas, but though anyone in or near Leeds who hasn't seen this might be interested.

Even if only to get this Alliance to be more specific about Women Only, whilst reminding them that single sex provision is legal!

(If I remember rightly Leeds Council has been quite anti sex based rights, so wonder if this shows a slight shift in position?)

They don't ask what your sex is. They ask if your gender identity matches the sex you were given at birth. Sadly, there is nothing about this that indicates a move away from TWAW :(

Though if enough women say somewhere that they wouldn't use a women's centre that was based on self ID, organizations like this might have to adjust their stance at some point.

Must admit I skim read as I came across it by chance and thought some on FWR (from Leeds) might be interested.

I just noticed that at least they asked about sex as well as gender.

But as you say it needs women to comment to get any change.

Why would Leeds need a women’s Centre when they have Virago Women’s Workshop? They are doing great things there.

I dont know, maybe someone should ask them

It might be about cost, from when I first looked at Virago events it looked like it could work out quite expensive to take part regularly.

But then maybe this proposed Women's Centre will have to charge to.

It doesn't seem likely in this day and age that a women's centre would be fully funded.
