More info? Is it on Twitter?

Feministwoman · 25/01/2024 22:26

Use these words in the search, as MN deleted my previous thread because I used a link.

Council is using a civil law sledgehammer to try to silence me for my Gender Critical views

Do you know why she's not using CrowdJustice? Or why she needs a barrister for a mag's court case? Or why she hasn't taken the materials down and then opened a discussion with her council?

Twistyripple · 25/01/2024 22:30

I'm completely lost. Will someone please explain this to me like I'm an idiot...

RethinkingLife · 25/01/2024 22:42

The story is in a previous thread.

The case is going to court. Sarah Vine KC is going to represent the woman at Westminster Magistrates Court. There is fund raising.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womensrights/4885062-labour-council-backs-down-over-g-c-posters

Sarah Vine KC, of Doughty Street Chambers, has agreed to represent me PRO-BONO at my hearing to Defend my Innocence at Westminster Magistrates Court on Wed 14th Feb at 10am! This is fantastic news!

Sarah Vine has been involved in a bunch of gender crit cases and looks pretty sure to win another here.

Labour Council backs down over G C posters | Mumsnet

I hadn't heard of this case but it indicates the length Labour members will go to. This dates from March 2023, perhaps KS's new tack is being taken no...

DrSpartacularsScathingTinsel · 25/01/2024 22:47

Why is she fundraising for pro bono representation?

This just sounds more like a grift than it first appeared.

Because the barrister is not the only cost?

There are legal costs etc. Probably worth reading the text at the fundraising site.

This

I have no connection, just thought it needed some publicity.

And yes, it seems more funds need raising, even though Sarah Vine has offered her services pro nono there are lots more costs involved.

Thanks for posting it. These trans thought police need to be exposed.

Truly shocking.

And yes it is well worth reading the actual link as given above. So for instance you would have seen that due to the offer of pro bon the funding target has been reduced.

I wonder how many individual women are battling on their own against Councils, NHS, etc., and everyone else who are abusing their power to be Stonewall lap dogs.

Also really indicative that the Council refers to trans being a "sexuality".

And the full post does show there is a twitter account active for the past 4 years. https://twitter.com/STranswidows

Account description says:

Aims: (1) to repeal the GRA 2004, (2) to remove "gender reassignment" (what a coy expression!) from the list of protected characteristics in EQ 2010. Both pieces of legislation pander to mental illness. Finally (3) "Hate crime" legislation must be amended

Web account: https://www.transwidows.com/index.php/transwidows/

(Although I would be interested to know if her front door is on the street or in a shared hallway ie block of flats, and has anyone complained to the council. Hope the council name gets known.)

Westminster Council. Who had their arse handed to them in the recent Rachel Meade tribunal because of their unfair treatment that discriminated against her and their failure to probe the nature of the single complainant?

You'd think they'd want to keep their misogynistic staff under control wouldn't you? But evidently not - if there's a woman they can harass, they'll have a go.

Feministwoman · 26/01/2024 01:17

Sorry for the multiple posts, no idea why that happened!

Yesterday I was reading about the court case of 'Samantha Norris' who was naked and flashing at 2 teenage girls in Southampton from the window of his house - that was deemed to be ok. But posters on a door is deemed not to be ok and the woman taken to court?! WTF

aname1234 · 26/01/2024 08:45

Horrendous

Rightsraptor · 26/01/2024 08:58

It isn't Westminster Council, it's the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF). The case will be heard at a Westminster Court, which is where the confusion has arisen, I think.

The council has claimed some very odd things, like using the word 'sexuality' wrongly, and that she was displaying pictures that weren't hers & stuff that, frankly, sounds desperate. Now they seem to have changed tack somewhat.

I have no doubt Sarah Vine will wipe the floor with them.

HandShoe · 26/01/2024 10:28

Thanks for the thread, have planted a few carrots.

SinnerBoy · 26/01/2024 10:38

I've just made a donation, it's up to £5,063 now. She has the barrister pro bono, but needs to pay for a solicitor.

I liked this from her the other day (and the comment from the splendid Anya Palmer).

Sorry for the multiple posts, no idea why that happened!

And whatever happened ate my post at that time!

But as I commented on Westminster Council no longer relevant as it seems to be H&F!

Does anyone know if they are basing their case on complaints received and whether the door is in a shared hallway or a street.

It might come out in the hearing of course, but I assume it might be part of their case.
