'Scottish Greens MSP Maggie Chapman has been SUSPENDED from one committee meeting after being found guilty of a "serious" breach of the MSPs code of conduct.
The controversial politician failed to declare a financial interest during a Equalities Committee's hearing into the Gender Recognition Reform Bill.
She asked a question of the chief executive of Rape Crisis Scotland but failed to say that she was being paid remuneration as Chief Operating Officer of Rape Crisis Edinburgh. She did end her employment with them in 2021, but it remains on the ministerial register of interests until 2026.
This breached the MSPs code of conduct surrounding the declaration of financial interests and also broke the parliament act as well.
Politicians on the Standards Committee agreed a sanction which will see Ms Chapman miss one meeting of the Equalities Committee.'

That’s quite a weak sanction for failing to declare an important and highly relevant interest - it’ll be water off a duck’s back for Chapman 🤔

It is very weak. But it's a start. At least it has been recorded and acknowledged that she has acted with a conflict of interest and arguably, lied.

I'm no fan of Maggie Chapman but having to declare a financial interest in an organisation that stopped paying you THREE YEARS ago seems a bit daft. Still, rules are rules and she should have followed them.

That was last year @ArabellaScott and the fact is she didn't declare that she was the person who wrote the submission from ERCC which was hurd by the grr committee when she was on the committee. All she got was a 1 meeting suspension

The article is from May last year (I nearly opened a celebratory tinny)

Oh, bugger it. My apologies! I suppose it's been shared because EHRCC has been in the news.
