I appreciate that this probably doesn't belong in FWR, but it's interesting to see that un-vetted and damaging material being distributed in school by teachers isn't limited to gender nonsense.

As a mental health salve, some of the recommendations in the leaflet distributed to pupils included smoking cigarettes, comfort eating and retail therapy.

Schools really do need to get a grip!

School sorry over leaflet telling pupil to 'smoke cigarette' for mental health

Bartley Green School said the leaflet was sent to a single pupil in error as part of mental health advice

Oof, staying in bed, too. That will help...

This is the trouble with allowing those with zero qualification in child mental health to dabble. Schools need to be aware of professional boundaries, being really careful before proffering advice about issues like eating disorders, self harm etc where the "wrong advice" can actually be harmful.
Numerous community resources are inappropriate for children but with child mental health services being stretched to the limit and anyone able to self identify as an expert, there's so much nonsense out there. The loss of Local Authorities doesn't help as they used to offer support as well.

I expect it was well meaning and hope that the school doesn't get too much bad publicity, but as you suggest, schools must take responsibility for ensuring that what they hand out to children out meets appropriate safeguarding standards.
