Following Seb Coe's mealy-mouthed attitude to non elite women's sport Oliver Brown has given him both barrels in a full page opinion piece in the sports section today.

Concluding pars: "Throughout Coe's career, he has regarded fairness as paramount, upholding a "zero tolerance" policy on doping. So why can he not apply the same unconditional rules for women desperate to defend the integrity of their own category?

"Coe needs to correct this flaw in his retionale, and fast. He is a prime candidate to be the next president of the Interntional Olympic Committee, which for years has spinelessly deflected any trnsgender policy decisions to individual federations. His opinion is of great import. As such, this is not the moment to suggest to the vast majority of female runners outside the elite that their rights to fairness are of lesser consequence. A two-tier system, with strict rules for the few and a "compete as whatever you like" policy for the rest, is as nonsensical as it is unjust."

Seb Coe’s trans comments are nonsensical and unjust

Coe should apply the same ‘zero tolerance’ policy he has with doping on protecting all female runners

Thank you for the link.
Good article.

Oliver Brown's journalism about this is excellent. The Telegraph have always had good sports coverage and their coverage of women's sport is second to none. He completely understands the issues and writes about them with clarity.
Not sure if he's always been like this but he wrote this great article about the FA's woeful behaviour:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/11/21/fa-intervention-transgender-row-resolution/

English football must stop dithering over transgender players and take action

The national game has fallen behind other major sports in ensuring fairness and safety for women – now the FA must show some gumption

In contrast the Stonewall shills self identifying as sports journalists at the Times (Matt Dickinson, David Walsh and Martin Samuel) have been collectively woeful, all having published articles empathising with men claiming to be women getting push back about their cheating in women's sport, (and all having their arses handed to them on a plate by readers not in thrall to Stonewall). Given the general excellent coverage of women's rights in the Times, it's a useful example of how Stonewall infiltrates places where there is literally zero evidence to support their nonsensical claims.

Martin Samuels recently wrote a dire article celebrating a man who ran the NY marathon as a man and then the London marathon as a woman! It was the usual testerical, emotive, be kind nonsense but I can't quote it as it's been removed from public view so feeble were his points - and so powerful the readers comments below.

But the letters about it weren't deleted so enjoy - share token:

It's barely worth complaining about, he clearly hasn't thought about it for more than 5 minutes.

Thank you @RandySavage. And yes - as ever the thoughts of the mediocre male thinker are underwhelming 😃

Apologies OP for detracting from Oliver Brown's excellent writing

PriOn1 · 06/01/2024 14:05

That article is typical mush with no thought. Yes, that particular man was slower than a lot of women, but if you extrapolate that to open up the women’s category, then more competitive men can’t be excluded either. As soon as you start to include any men in women’s spaces and groups, you make it impossibly complicated as you then have to start to draw lines about which ones, what hoops you might give them to jump through and crazy judgments about which men are womanly enough. There’s only one reasonable and logical place to draw that line and it’s based on sex.

But it’s good to see Seb Coe having his arse handed to him for not standing up for women. Pity it’s not Sharron Davies or Daley Thompson in his place.

He doesn't know his hairy old arse from a hole in the ground.

It's a strange Humpty Dumpty misuse of language when trans activists and all the organisations they have infiltrated and captured whang on about being "inclusive". Trans women taking women's places in sports actually means sport is being exclusive - excluding the only sex that is entitled to be there.
