Young Labour piling on Tonia Antoniazzi on Twitter

Just for her tweeting in support of single sex spaces.

twitter.com/toniaantoniazzi/status/1740900475703111707?s=46&t=AjtjSItRj-kgZwRzL-pdyQ

Labour's states policy is to protect single sex spaces. The equality act allows for single sex spaces. Yet they say her tweet is "transphobia"

Excellently described post on Twitter by Dennis Noel Kavanagh -

'Young Labour is basically all the ghastly children from Charlie and Chocolate Factory but they’ve got smartphones, pronouns and low level political ambitions.'

😂

DissidentDaughter · 31/12/2023 17:36

I think MPs/local representatives across all parties underestimate just how bloody angry women are.

The run up to the election is going to be interesting. If they think women will be fobbed off with other vote-winning carrots, think again 😂

MargotBamborough · 31/12/2023 17:38

I am now really starting to understand the mentality that made some people vote for Brexit just to give David Cameron a kicking.

I am starting to get the urge to not just spoil my ballot as planned, but to vote Tory.

DissidentDaughter · 31/12/2023 18:04

@MargotBamborough good analogy - voting Tory might at least safeguard women’s place at the table, whereas Labour just want to shut us out at every turn.

It’s the ignorance and contempt that gets my blood boiling. I’ve spoiled my ballot a couple of times previously. But a woman scorned is a dangerous thing… Who knows, that pen might check a box as yet unticked!

Crouton19 · 31/12/2023 18:14

I wonder (hope?) if Starmer is waiting until he has his landslide and can then afford to kick out the worst offenders.

Dennis's twitter is a joy to behold - articulate, informed and often very funny.
So good to see him and the Gay Men's Network onside with all this.

I love his posts too and 'like' them so often I worry it looks like I'm some sort of stalker.

That would be nice, but I think it's more likely he would say that it shows support for their agenda.

I feel like there are a lot of women not going into this with their eyes open. I get that they think removing the Tories is important, or that there are certain Labour policies they prefer.

But I think the likelihood is that the small steps that have been made towards turning around the capture of semi-political institutions will be completely halted and indeed reversed, and bad lawmaking to virtue signal on issues that will be cheap to implement will be the order of the day.

They aren't going to be able to reward their base with the kind of spending and social programs they seem to expect. They will need to throw them another bone.

Made me laugh but sadly I think you’re correct.

When they come out with shit like this it's a mystery to me why we're to expect a landslide Labour victory. Do people truly not see who they've become?

They don’t for some reason, plenty of pro Labour on mn threads dismissing this stuff

Watch out for hate laws inhibiting free speech on SM

I completely agree with this. I suspect my sitting Labour MP is one of the closet biological realists we keep hearing about, based on previous a doorstep conversation. If I have the opportunity in the run up to the next GE, I will be asking v direct questions about which way they’d vote on self-ID legislation and how they’d respond if it was a whipped vote. That’s not to say I won’t spoil my ballot or vote differently, but I’m likely to be stuck with them anyway due to local demographics. I want to know whether they still have their critical thinking engaged and will be able to represent women’s interests.

Talkinpeace · 31/12/2023 18:36

Many MPs are scared of their CLP activists / volunteers
after the deselection purges for wrongthink in the Corbyn era.

See also the case with the Young Tories around 1992

If Starmer is brave he will speak up to drag the CLP gender politics back into the mainstream (and the law)
but I'm not holding my breath

DissidentDaughter · 31/12/2023 18:43

I really rate Michael Foran’s forensic explainers on Twitter/X. He is indefatigable, and witty. Happy New Year Michael!

I am gratified to see that there are hundreds and hundreds of posts supporting her and Pooh-poohing all the ridiculous drama queens. I truly see a significant shift now from "no debate" and as I have an open bottle of champagne I'm sipping (oh ok, I'm chugging it) as I raise a glass to strong women and their allies. We thank you.

DissidentDaughter · 31/12/2023 19:07

Yes, ‘No Debate’ is in tatters.

Operation ‘Let Them Speak’ is going swimmingly 😂 With every daft pronouncement, yet another swathe of the UK population is peaked.

Cheers everyone! 🥂

Waitwhat23 · 31/12/2023 19:21

Another excellent one from Dennis -

I've also seen another tweet where someone says that, in their 15 year old's friendship group, they use 'don't be such a they/them' if someone is being an arse which made me laugh.

There's some hope yet.

🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant.

DissidentDaughter · 31/12/2023 20:31

I think the TRA/MRA mob & allies underestimate how well-primed and experienced most women are around issues they’re trying to target and disrupt.

How inconveniently resilient and resourceful we are 😂

Ha, now chuckling at the observations - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory kids!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/12/2023 20:42

Dennis is having great fun with the incoherent pompous statements from the young twits :

When I was moved from MN to Twitter I was used to the debate going on

during my 'holiday' over there "no debate" went up its own fundament
greeted with hundreds of us from here
who had tuned and chewed and reviewed and finessed

they never knew what hit them

I will for ever be grateful to Justine for allowing free speech on here

Yes it’s good

We need the law back on our side. That’s incredibly hard but it’s what will change things for women and safeguarding dc

llareggub · 31/12/2023 22:10

Tonia isn’t my MP but she’s in my neighbouring constituency. She’s marvellous. Swansea Labour Students on the other hand are toxic and misogynist.

Waitwhat23 · 01/01/2024 00:50

I've seen the wee laddies stamping their feet about all this described elsewhere as 'a moist, pallid clutch of virgins' which seems dead on.
