Has John Lewis just erased me?

So I’ve just noticed that when filtering a search in the JL app instead of ‘department/women’ it is now ‘gender’. FFS/sigh.

Still says Women for me.

If I search (e.g. brand) then a search category below is ‘gender’. Is this new?

No I don’t think so. It’s probably a hangover from when gender was normally meant as a politer word for sex!

Flamango You may be right but I would expect JL to know the difference nowadays. It has been spelt out so many times they surely cannot have failed to notice.

For example for women "single sex changing rooms" all well and good. "single gender changing rooms" means the pretend women can go in too.

Call it out every time, by email, letter or on sm. I will not be erased.

i just don’t recall ever seeing ‘gender’ as a category in the search criteria. It doesn’t belong there IMO.

It’s always been there if you go in under kids - say, “kids joggers” and one of the filters will be gender. That’s always been the case I am sure.
However I haven’t been able to replicate finding it when searching for women’s clothing? So if I type t shirts I get departments - women, men, kids as a filter option. If you go into kids then you can further filter by gender but going into dept - women’s doesn’t offer a gender filter to me?
