Only one frothing was Dawn - well she probably cant write poetry and I doubt she'd manage an escape plan.

er, Nadine Dorries ?

Maybe Labour are much less willing and able to shut their women up ? Or the press asymmetrically reports on such things ?

Are you kidding? You are, aren't you?

TheClitterati · 22/12/2023 22:23

Dawn Butler
Judith Butler
When it comes to gender bollocks it's the Butler deep in it.

'Dawn Butler accepted £46, 700 in donations from Anthony Watson of GLAAD in order to push self-identification of sex.

She is doing what she's been paid to do by Watson.

Angela Eagle accepted more than £100K from Watson.'
This was on Twitter. Follow the money...

Also stating that I can’t vote Labour because of this sort of thing. Hope you are reading, SPADS.

Me neither.

IwantToRetire · 23/12/2023 00:30

Is the Mirror still Labour supporting?

anyolddinosaur · 23/12/2023 06:09

This is a murder by teenagers that is not getting the same publicity https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67802820

Something has gone seriously wrong in society when teenagers think it's fine to murder someone. But the TRAs dont wish women to discuss that, they want to use Brianna's death to make political points.

MargotBamborough · 23/12/2023 10:23

I realised last night that Dawn's antics over the last few days have been the final nail in the coffin for me.

I really wanted to vote Labour under Keir Starmer. I thought he was excellent as shadow Brexit secretary and had really high hopes for his leadership.

Despite David "women who need single sex spaces are dinosaurs who hoard rights" Lammy, Nadia "people who don't agree with us need to submit to re-education or be expelled" Whittome and Lisa "male rapists should be allowed in women's prisons" Nandy, I was hoping for a Christmas miracle.

Perhaps that Keir Starmer would be woken up at 3am by the ghost of history books future showing how he would be remembered if he throws women and girls under a bus rather than dragging Labour back to something resembling sanity, or something like that.

But when I saw Dawn posting on Twitter that she would report Mumsnet to the Police for being uncomplimentary about her, I realised the party is just too far gone.

I'd actually rather have another 5 years of the Tories.

Froodwithatowel · 23/12/2023 10:27

I feel the same way.

I do not want another 5 years of the Tories. There is nothing at all that I want to vote for in any party, I don't want any of them. But Labour are insane and dangerous.

Seems that the Mirror is also willing to amplify this false message by printing comments by Manchester Pride as though fact ie contradicting the evidence given in court and by the police who investigated the murder.

How does that song by Tim Minchin go again?

If the facts don't fit my narrative
I'll just invent alternatives
cos otherwise my brain will blow up.

That poor child is being used to provide the one single real focus for all the fiction of danger that's been hosed around for years, and it's not a lobby that ever lets facts or reality get in the way of emoting for leverage. Or ever considers things like ethics.

roarrfeckingroar · 23/12/2023 10:34

Seriously, I fear what's coming with Labour.

I'm going to screenshot this and send it to my Labour candidate, cc'ing Starmer's office.

Yes, the unfortunate fact is that trans people are currently a political battleground and because Brianna happened to be trans, both sides have now turned a murder trial into a trans debate.

I found it really sad looking on the Brianna Ghey thread yesterday, where the first couple of pages were full of genuine and heartfelt comments about what a terrible crime this was and how awful it must be for Brianna's family, and the last few pages were mainly people arguing about whether we should or should not use Brianna's preferred pronouns.

I find pronouns really difficult now but for me, the fact that Brianna was trans is completely irrelevant. I don't feel any more or less sad about it because Brianna was trans. Brianna's murder is as tragic as the murder of any other young person.

Was it a transphobic hate crime? The police think not. And I would tend to agree. The same crime would have happened if Brianna had not been trans. The killers had four other potential victims lined up. The murder would still have happened (or at least been attempted) even if no one involved had been trans.

KissTheRains · 23/12/2023 11:37

I won't be voting if things remain as they are.

There's not a single party that represents my views and I don't vote dependant on the leader, it's about what the party stands for.

Lysistra65 · 23/12/2023 13:54

I am a lefty all my life & will never vote Tory-too many mums & kids are going hungry. BUT I will question candidates re what is a woman & will not vote for anyone who gives the wrong answer. Which may mean I have to spoil my ballot.

IwantToRetire · 23/12/2023 16:25

I haven't kept all the links but quite a few local papers have now had "comments" from local LGBTQI+ groups all saying the same thing. This terrible murder is proof of the hate that the Government is creating.

Anyone would think that they might have all been sent the same memo.

And I know this has been discussed on the thread about Brianna, but apart from the contemptible attempt to hijack this violence to boost their campaign, it means that people will not be looking at why 2 young people conspired together to commit such terrible violence. And their interest in the violence meant that but for chance child E might well have been the victim.

Just how low will TRAs and their doting followers stoop?
