I love the comments: Women are allowed to have a chat Dawn 😁

Oh my goodness, not Women With Opinions😱😱😱😱

PorcelinaV · 22/12/2023 11:34

Can Dawn be reported somewhere for her apparent extremism and rejection of basic democratic principles like free speech?

I think her own tweet blaming the government for "hate" was pretty disgusting and hateful speech itself. All the government has done is rejected the ideology that gender identity supercedes biological sex. They haven't said anyone should be "hated".

I would suggest that Dawn is weaponising false accusations of "hate" to score points and push an agenda.

You can't say, "more light and less heat", and then slander all your political opponents.

heathspeedwell · 22/12/2023 11:53

I thought Justine's comment was brilliant.

'It's somewhat ironic that Ms Butler chose to post her attack on Mumsnet on X (formerly Twitter) which regularly hosts comments that wouldn't last a moment on Mumsnet and where the moderation is light touch at best.
'We see this kind of double standard a lot and I'm beginning to wonder if it might be because Mumsnet is the only major platform dominated by women's voices.'

Froodwithatowel · 22/12/2023 11:53

I see the Daily Mail didn't feel brave enough to engage with the ducks, giraffes, crustless quiche or hedgehog aspects of the debate.

Floisme · 22/12/2023 11:58

Poor old Labour - they spend all year issuing slippery, lawyer approved statements to reassure us we can trust them, and then along comes Dawn Butler to undo it all in a single tweet. Grin

It's the headline on the daily mail site 🤣

Justines comment is brilliant.

God help us if Labour get voted in and if we have to put up with this level of stupidity.

Their leader thinks some women can have a penis. 🤷

Where did Justine comment? I can’t see it on Twitter

HPFA · 22/12/2023 15:32

At the moment all the polls indicate that Labour will have a majority of over 100 MPs.

Dawn Butler will be just one of those - the idea that she'll be able to dictate Labour policy is laughable.

It is quite funny if you follow Labour party politics and the ruthless way Keir Starmer operates that people think he will waste any time in office on this stuff.

Floisme · 22/12/2023 15:36

You may be right HPFA, but nevertheless I am very much looking forward to Keir Starmer's pre-election visit to Mumsnet.

Starmer is ruthless in his support for Israel and his opposition to leftwing ideas, but he's never been ruthless with the gender ideologues

Isopedia · 22/12/2023 16:02

One of the comments describes mumsnet as 'the M&S version of 4chan' 🤣🤣

She's still sticking to her I’m right you’re wrong stance then.

Be kinder - except to those evil Mumsnetters obviously

Yep. People are keen though

teawamutu · 22/12/2023 16:24

Dear lord, the self-satisfied obtuseness is off the scale.

HermioneWeasley · 22/12/2023 18:07

Labour do seem to have the absolute thickest MPs - Dawn, Nadia Whittomb, Angela Rayner.

is this our choice - well intentioned but so dense light bends around them or venal and self serving?

er, Nadine Dorries ?

Maybe Labour are much less willing and able to shut their women up ? Or the press asymmetrically reports on such things ?

Really? They’re trying pretty hard to shut Rosie Duffield up

Floisme · 22/12/2023 18:44

Labour less willing to shut women up? Oh Jane, Jane, Jane.

And we don't need the press to tell us how stupid some of our MPs are - they do that all by themselves on Twitter.

Edited

Exactly no one makes Dawn Butler and Nadia Whittome tweet as they do

It’s generally very dim

IncompleteSenten · 22/12/2023 18:50

That frothing get a life tweet is hugely unprofessional.
