Twitter/X is also an open forum where all sorts
of opinions about people are expressed, in far less moderate language. The internet is brimming with such fora. She’s going to be busy if she needs to bring them all down.

Or maybe it’s just “mums” she wants to shut up? 🤔

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/12/2023 21:35

RoyalCorgi · 21/12/2023 19:50

So, someone tweeted at her:

"FYI you've been mentioned on transphobic forum mumsnet, that's where the pile-on is coming from"

She responded:

"Oh I wondered where these nasty vicious inhumane people were coming from.

Time for me to unfollow and report Mumsnet to @metpoliceuk

Thanks for the info Tom"

So:

  1. She hasn't read the thread in question, simply relied on a claim by someone on Twitter.
  2. She claims she will report Mumsnet (not just the thread, but the site) to the Metropolitan Police, and even tags them in, because obviously the Met don't have more important things to deal with than reading an internet forum.
  3. She is reporting Mumsnet, not because of anything that has been said on Mumsnet (she hasn't read the thread, remember) but because some people on Twitter have been rude to her, and she thinks they are people who have come from Mumsnet, even though she has absolutely no evidence that this is the case.
  4. Having decided to report a popular internet forum to the police on the basis of not a single shred of evidence, she has decided to announce this decision to the whole of Twitter, with no apparent consideration for how ridiculous it makes her - and by extension her political party - appear.

I ask this question in all honesty: how is it possible for someone so lacking in basic thinking skills to be an elected representative?

Quite.

JanesLittleGirl · 21/12/2023 22:27

If brains were dynamite she wouldn't have enough to blow her hat off.

DGPP · 21/12/2023 22:30

She is being ridiculous.. but to suggest all of Labour are like this is nonsense. They still have my vote. I mean we could list the ridiculous things the Tories have done and said..

littlbrowndog · 21/12/2023 22:34

I dunno know but no Tory ever said giraffes are mostly gay and children have born having no sex.

tbh it’s a low bar

Froodwithatowel · 21/12/2023 22:41

Also clearly no idea that MNetters tend to happily and very thoroughly remove the Michael with recipes when poked, and that the Daily Mail hang out in these parts. Her advisors are going to need a stiff gin about now.

Ridiculous yes, trying to legislate women as a sex class out of existence and criminalise those who object, not so much.

Unfortunately.

I'd truly love to vote Labour, but while Starmer tacitly condones the idiocy of Whittome, Osbourne and Butler and the appalling bullying of Rosie Duffield, I can't.

teawamutu · 21/12/2023 22:58

... Although it is indeed a cheering prospect to think of the headlines.

Nice one, Dawn. Keep bringing the sunlight.

HagoftheNorth · 21/12/2023 23:05

Looks like Tom’s message has been taken down, Dawn showing rather less self-awareness!

stealtheatingtunnocks · 22/12/2023 01:57

Also stating that I can’t vote Labour because of this sort of thing. Hope you are reading, SPADS.

Or that only 99% of women don’t have a penis.

Oh please pick this up, Daily Mail…

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 22/12/2023 07:13

God help us if Labour get voted in and if we have to put up with this level of stupidity.

RPW · 22/12/2023 08:59

Absolutely agree

KissTheRains · 22/12/2023 09:05

I hope anyone who has ever posted on MN has a safe bunker to retire too?
A commune in the mountains with large gates?
I'm posting from the basement, hiding in a barrel, behind the furnace and the old sheets...

Aw crap, I just gave away my position...

Moving to higher ground.. find me at the top of the Nuneaton Nipple..

Cailin66 · 22/12/2023 09:08

Who is Tom in all of this?

HPFA · 22/12/2023 09:30

I suppose it's quite touching the faith people have in the power of teachers and schools.

"Oh look, there's these two highly disturbed and psychotic teenagers who cold-bloodedly planned the torture and murder of one of their fellow pupils but of course they wouldn't have done it if a teacher had given a lesson on "be kind"

IncompleteSenten · 22/12/2023 09:34

Who is Tom in all of this?

Tom is the cowardly stirrer who scarpered at the first sign of trouble.

ace249 · 22/12/2023 09:36

apparently mumsnet is an extremist breeding ground and should be reported to Prevent
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Since you ask - Brent. Living up to the reputation they first earned in Thatcher's time. Nice to know some things don't change! Makes me feel young again.

ManyATrueWord · 22/12/2023 09:46

Dawn Butler is a major reason why I won't vote Labour. It was bad enough when the Catholic Tory minister set up Universal Credit to make it harder for women to breach the sanctity of marriage by leaving their husbands. I didn't think that was acceptable then and that is a less awful set of beliefs than Dawn wants to force on us.

Organaforever · 22/12/2023 09:48

Merrymouse · 21/12/2023 19:59

Just theorising here, but could it be that people are responding to a post on Twitter because they saw it on Twitter?

I don’t know, but suspect there are more users of Twitter than MN….

It was seeing that kind of guff on Twitter that brought me to MN in the first place just to see what was so awful. Never left. So suppose I should thank them for that.

The number of times there's been an island or remote spot available for sale over the last couple of years and we didn't have a MN crowdfunder to set up an non-extraditable safe haven for MNetters…

SerendipityJane · 22/12/2023 10:30

MNHQ have my full contact details from a previous username when an up themselves Yank threatened to sue and we had to give our identities to MNHQ to keep our posts up. This was pre-pandemic.

Yes, I don't think they quite get who Prevent are or what they do, but I'll put the kettle on and get out the mince pies, I'm sure whoever Prevent sends will be up for a chat. Mostly about duck porn and quiche, but there you go.
