This is a Twitter post from someone who says he's Louise's ex-partner. I don't know if what he says is true, but if it is, it's very worrying.

Just saw this. In shock!

Woman2023 · 16/12/2023 22:25

West Yorkshire Police again? No serious crime there?

RhannionKPSS · 16/12/2023 23:37

Louise is out now thank goodness. I hope she gets in touch with Fair Cop.

West Yorkshire police - going after the idea non-confirming women.

Rightsraptor · 17/12/2023 05:48

I reckon Catherine Cawood would have been a total Terf.

So glad to hear Louise has been released from custody.

SinnerBoy · 17/12/2023 06:58

Blimey, this is really shocking to read, especially after the explanation from her ex.

Boiledbeetle · 17/12/2023 07:53

She hasn't been able to catch a break this year has she

Fucks sake. I hope she wipes the floor with West Yorkshire Constabulary. But it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 18/12/2023 16:56

Her ex stood up for her and he’s a comedian? Well? That gives me hope on several fronts. Hope she is ok, I doubt she’ll be the last, not with the hate crime bill coming

duc748 · 18/12/2023 18:01

As a Bandcamp user who has forsworn Spotify (my DS thinks I'm crazy) cos I understood BC gave artists a better deal, I find it disappointing that they've succumbed too. Although, in the music biz, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised these days. Seems anyone in showbiz who comes out against the current loony consensus is taking a massive risk with their careers, unless they are already as rich as Croesus.

She was in the shower when they came to arrest her and had to get dressed in front of a police officer with a bodycam 😲

sadly we have heard similar before

FantaBanane · 19/12/2023 06:49

Really weirdly when I tried to click on Andrew Doyle’s Twitter account (that she links to, having been interviewed by him) I’m blocked. I have a really uninteresting Twitter account. The only reason I’ve been blocked previously is for the audacity to follow terfy accounts which I wouldn’t think would be a bother to him. Anyone else blocked?

highame · 19/12/2023 08:03

Some while ago, you had to 'register' for Andrews account to be able to read messages etc. I think it was when twitter became X. Anyway, I doubt it's anything sinister, after all he is the supremo free speech advocate

Crouton19 · 19/12/2023 08:23

I was blocked by Andrew Doyle a couple of years ago. I sometimes have my account set to private and I think he has an issue with that (though is welcome to follow me, not that I actually tweet anything!)

It definitely shows as blocked which is weird, as yeah, he does seem about the free speech (not that I say much of anything at all!)

Floisme · 19/12/2023 19:05

How is blocking someone on Twitter anti free speech? If Doyle was trying to get you kicked off the platform or fired from your job because of what you'd said then you would most definitely have a point but surely all blocking means is that someone doesn't want to engage with you?

I don’t think the previous poster meant that, and neither did I. I think she meant that it would be unlikely he would block me for something I’ve said when he’s all about the free speech, himself, if that makes sense. Not that I actually say much of anything at all anyway. I believe the only reason I’ve been blocked in in the past is for being put on one of the terfblocker lists (and he seems pro-terf), only because of who I follow.

Anyway, guess I’ll never know, just thought it was curious.

Floisme · 19/12/2023 22:00

Actually no, it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe we're misunderstanding each other but I don't see how blocking someone on Twitter is anti free speech?

Preventing someone from speaking or punishing them for expressing a view - that would be anti free speech, but no-one should be obliged to engage with someone if they don't want to. Surely?

Sorry if I seem to have pounced on you and I don't want to inflate this into a bigger deal than it is, but I've seen people before on Twitter, complaining about free speech advocates blocking people and always think 'huh?' What am I missing?

I honestly think we’re talking at cross purposes. I think the previous poster meant that it’s strange that he would block me given his free speech views if it was an issue that I follow GC accounts (the only reason I’ve been blocked before). As in based on that vibe he gives it’s unlikely that in itself would be an issue.

I don’t actually post anything really so nothing to mute. He’s obviously 100% within his rights to block me or anyone, I just was trying to idly figure out why vs annoyed about it.

Editing to add - I’m not suggesting that blocking someone is anti free speech. I’m trying to say that someone who is so open-minded about free speech would be unlikely to block me for just following gender critical accounts. Or I thought anyway!

Anyway, genuinely no big deal either way Smile (genuine smiley face, not sarcastic!)

Awww, Floisme and FantaBanane, what a lovely exchange of apologies.
More interactions like that in the world, and it'd be a better place☺
