This was even a news item just now on the Radio 3 news.
Why they can't just say that no man no matter how we identifies should ever be placed in a women's prison, I don't know.

New prison rules on housing trans inmates

Those convicted of violent offences will not be eligible to switch prison after changing gender but critics say loophole remains

Bravo Blackburn, Murray and Mckenzie as usual.

It's repulsive.

Although as they intend to provide men with a 'woman' gender identity with props and resources of the 'same gender identity' I wonder if women will be offered the opportunity for consent by being asked if they have a gender identity, whether it's the same as the male criminals being foisted on them, or whether they are just believers in biological sex being a fixed fact.

(from telegraph) Scottish Prison Service unveils policy that permits transfer to female jails if offenders do not pose ‘an unacceptable risk of harm’

So there's an acceptable risk of harm?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/01/2024 11:47

Apparently so.

IcakethereforeIam · 11/01/2024 18:29

I think this is a report on the meeting earlier today

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/11/transwomen-criminals-prisons-scotland-theresa-medhurst/

https://archive.ph/qX2ge

Considering the number of sexual offences against women that are unrecorded and definitely unprosecuted, the fact that a man is, well a man but, violent should preclude him from being locked up with vulnerable women.

Any male prisoner declaring themselves a woman while in prison would be “taken seriously”, Ms Medhurst said.

butany woman saying she was terrified of being locked up with a man would be, not ignored, but probably put on a punishment detail.

These people, I don't know how they sleep at night.

Violent trans women criminals could still be sent to female jails, says Scottish prisons boss

New policy means male-bodied prisoners who claim they wish to live as women would have an easier path to women’s estate if victims were men

Teresa Medcalfe, on being asked by Sharon Downey today about whether putting violent males into the female prison estate might be a bit unfair on the female prisoners already incarcerated there (particularly given that they are the actual vulnerable party in this instance) chose to focus on the research undertaken by SPS which indicates that female prisoners are 'kind and accomodating to transgender prisoners'.

I'm sure that the SPS's research, undertaken by the SPS, and not released to the general public showed that female prisoners 'agreed' when asked by SPS whether they thought they should be kind to male prisoners.

'Be kind' to violent male offenders in women's prisons. It fucking boggles the mind.

Waitwhat23 · 11/01/2024 19:27

Edit - Medhurst, not Medcalfe

Froodwithatowel · 11/01/2024 19:30

Indeed. They've been kind and accommodating to the point of providing rape experiences to these troubled men.

GoatsareGOAT · 11/01/2024 20:41

What if the violent men/transwoman was violent to another man/transwoman...

FFS why are these people to desperate to be able to lock women up with men, it's utterly baffling.

Russell Findlay has been good on this I hope he keeps pushing (& I'm sure he will as public opinion is on his side!)

Hmm. That's an interesting way of saying "... cowed and frightened into appeasing trans prisoners, to try to avoid assaults."

Ah, I see you are bilingual in Righteousness!

SinnerBoy · 12/01/2024 12:29

Sadly, yes. It's quite easy to learn, just turn your brain off.

Chaffgoldffinch · 12/01/2024 14:28

Pauline McNeil Lab asked Angela Constance SNP why the SPS had suddenly decided it is against GDPR to record how many trans identified prisoners are held and where. She asked why the Daily Record should know more about what is going than elected representatives. Angela Constance answered, to effect, that they are now following Stonewall Law.

Of course erasing data has been used to good effect by small 'progressive' countries like Belgium, where there is no way of knowing what the impact of self id for convicts has been.
