So I went for dinner with people I know through my husband’s work.

Someone brought up ‘the topic’ I said nothing initially as I didn’t know the lie of the land. Didn’t want to cause my husband issues.

Turned out they were all massive TERFs😂

Brilliant night was had.

I could see my husband’s face when the topic came up, thinking fuuuuuuck. Was a lively debate.

They were mostly staggeringly well informed, one helps run a women’s shelter and has been under huge pressure to be “inclusive”, one guy brought up the risks to autistic children.

Great stuff.

I luckily don't know any adult irl that doesn't think it's all batshit.

Even the teens roll their eyes at it all, and most would actively avoid kids with special 'identities' because of the drama.

The world has definitely woken up massively compared to 5-6 years ago.
But that's why the underhanded push for policy and law chances happened fast, before people realised what was really going on.

What is the topic and what does TERF stand for?

It's not particularly surprising since basically everybody is a massive terf! Those who aren't simply haven't thought about it enough.

The topic was actually self id which ended up in a lively discussion.

TERF stands for trans exclusionary radical feminist.

Sounds as if Operation Let Them Speak has been a massive success!

The more TRAs holler about how bigoted everything is, the more sunlight they shine on their actions.

Terf is a slur - more accurate to explain it as Tired of Explaining Reality to Fantacists.

IRL most of the adults I know are very about the nonsense. With two exceptions - both of whom are parents of very troubled teens who are trying to find their way.

That's the polite version, I prefer Fuckwits personally.

I was also in a group of previously unknown lesbians and we were not all in agreement about certain things, eg some believe there is true trans/ born in the wrong body etc, when it came down to it agreed that no male should be in women’s changing rooms, prisons or sports. Also couldn’t describe how they could tell the predators from the true trans. So I think that even non feminist lesbians can be onside.

I’ve had this recently too. DHs school friends (all boys school) all of whom are creative, musician types, or solid working class but commited liberals had a really interesting and mostly TERFy discussion on what’s app recently, DH handed over the phone for me to enjoy the conversation.
