Did anyone watch this?

So much to unpick.

A man dressed in a tutu and fishnet tights, targeting loan women and sexually assaulting them. The police describe this as 'a male wearing a skirt, targeting females.'

In his interview he stated that he went out not only dressed as a female but became a female on those occasions. He stated that the conversations he had with his victims were 'about female things' - 'what we are are wearing, how we look'

How can people not join the dots and see that this person, in another setting would be cheered on and supported, to assert that because he wears a skirt and believes he becomes female when wearing it, he should be acknowledged as a woman and allowed access to single sex spaces? This man not only deliberately targeted lone females to expose himself to, and grope, but he believes that being female is mostly around 'talking about what you're wearing and how we look'.

"Melissa Garner, a senior crown prosecutor from the CPS, said: “Ali Ay accosted his victims whilst they walked alone late at night in north London. He wore women’s clothing to lure his victims and make them initially feel at ease in his company...."

I did, I genuinely can’t believe what I watched. A two year suspended sentence and acquitted on indecent exposure because he was wearing a prosthetic penis over his own, as if the women being assaulted in dark streets all alone could tell the difference!

BobbleWobbleHat · 28/11/2023 23:39

I know @fyn - absolutely unbelievable that deliberately lifting your skirt to force a lone female to look at what appears to be a penis but is actually a life-like facsimile (which they couldn't possibly know) is totes fine and not at all a sexuallly motivated crime (even when it often accompanies an actual sexual assault). You only had to listen to the victims to appreciate the impact on them was not mitigated by it being fake.

I thought the suspended sentence was appalling. The police must feel absolutely sick at putting in all that work for little result. So he’s still out on the streets and able to assault more women. It makes me sick.

Thanks to men like him and that butcher in Scotland, and every other dodgy TRA character (copious evidence on social media), I would be more scared of seeing a man in women's clothing while walking alone at night than a bog standard man (who I'm also forced to be wary of) .

It must be so hard putting all that work in and not being backed up by the courts/the law.

Not sure they showed themselves in the best light the whole way through though. When the victim who had come in to attend an ID parade was asked, "did he expose himself to you? Or was it a sexual assault? Or both?" in the tone of "Tea? Sugar? Milk?" I felt her distress and felt her inability to answer was a result of the insensitive manner.

They need to start treating indecent exposure as a form of sexual assault. It’s known that offenders frequently escalate; & a slap on the wrist is clearly no deterrent. And men who do it need to understand that it is, in fact, A Big Deal.

There also needs to be none of this “oh no, THAT’S a man in a dress” to allow disavowal of trans criminals. I mean, it is a man in a dress - but either they admit that’s a universal truth; or they embrace their “sisters” & suck up the fact that TW offend in a male pattern. (To the lack of surprise of everyone who understands humans cannot change sex, yes 🙄)

BarbaraCadabra · 29/11/2023 12:03

Hopefully the programme will have peaked some more people.

Probably because it's a different system but it's telling that the man who attacked the woman for her money is not to be let out unsupervised but Ali Ay can carry doing whatever he wants, despite having committed sexually motivated crimes against numerous women. Oh wait, his name's on a register, that's okay then.

BobbleWobbleHat · 29/11/2023 14:23

Absolutely agree.

Absolutely.

The man who assaulted an elderly woman and left her injured on the ground, with an offending history stretching back years is rightly recognised as a danger to other women.

The man who assaulted, physically grabbing, squeezing and restraining multiple lone women over at least a 2 year period.....suspended sentence and freedom to do as he chooses when he chooses.

This man stated he believed that he went out 'as a female' when dressed in skirts and fishnets or see through leggings, with a prosthetic penis attached to his underwear. According to the the tra campaign, this man should be allowed/encouraged/supported to state that he is a woman and that this identity is to be recognised, respected and should afford this man the right to access single sex toilets, changing rooms and healthcare. Who can honestly defend that? And not see the risk and danger? Not to mention how it demeans and disrespects women, their needs and wants.

I found it really interesting that the intro to this case from the police used the features of the case - that this is a male who dresses in skirts to assault lone females - to explain the danger. The fact he wore skirts was not incidental or neutral to them at all.

What I didn’t understand was, if he’s identifying as a woman on these nighttime jaunts why does he have a false penis?

BarbaraCadabra · 29/11/2023 16:17

Was the false penis precisely so he could get away with the crimes? And also so that it was flaccid and would hide anything that might not have been flaccid, because he wasn't doing this for no reason.

I got the impression that had it been a real penis they might have had more chance of a better (for the victims) result.

fyn · 29/11/2023 17:08

@BarbaraCadabra yes, he was very clear in the interview that it couldn’t possibly be his penis because he was sure the prosthetic was covering everything.

elliemac209 · 29/11/2023 20:49

This production is in conjunction with the Open University. The 'academic consultant' is Louise Westmarland who we last met likening Jo Phoenix to the 'racist uncle at the dining table' (iirc)......

I haven't yet watched this episode so can't comment but wanted to point this out.

BobbleWobbleHat · 29/11/2023 22:00

It's his womanly penis, silly!

OP posts:
Brainworm · 29/11/2023 22:12

I'm surprised it was included, but pleased it was. There are a number of notable points

  • The victims all described a man wearing specific clothes. No one, as far as I spotted, referred to them as ,women's clothes.
  • Everyone referred to the man as a man, throughout the episode, only the man referred to himself as 'being female' at the time he wore the dildo and 'spoke to' the women
  • Nobody referred to gender identity through the episode despite the man referring to sometimes 'being a women'
  • It proved, yet again, that no man goes to the effort of dressing up 'as a women' to assault women as they could do this anyway. It never happens!

Spot the lie!

Very well spotted!

EvelynKatie · 04/12/2023 19:50

Just watched this one, made me so mad! Of course he gets away with just being on the sex offenders register because he was flashing his fake penis. Nevermind groping lone women on the streets at night.

BobbleWobbleHat · 06/12/2023 08:21

I know @EvelynKatie I'm still processing it!
