Women physically (many middle aged and older) attacked by transactivists in Portland.

Multiple women have been injured following an attack by men in Portland after women organized a WDI meeting at a county library. I'm absolutely disgusted that the police didn't arrive to protect these women's First Amendment rights to freedom of speech (though not at all surprised because in many US cities, the police don't care/are understaffed/overworked/dealing with gun violence). https://twitter.com/WDI_USA

I meant only specifically what I said and nothing about the other details. I won't take part in any discussion disparaging trans persons. I was merely correcting the parts I mentioned.

Your original comment was as clear as mud, your update even more pointless.

Hmmm, does that mean it is only a crime depending on who the perpetrator is? Justice would be a casualty to such cronyism.

Igmum · 20/11/2023 07:51

This is horrific, what brave women. The assailants are smart if they are attacking the cameras. For their violence to shock the nation it would probably need to be filmed, so they wear masks and steal or smash cameras. Evil.

ArthurbellaScott · 20/11/2023 08:03

Christ. I hope all the women are okay.

Right Side of History my arse.

Are you saying that this was 'trans' people attacking the women?

How do you know this, and is this not linking 'trans' people with violence against women?

I'd suggest that is quite disparaging of 'trans' people in itself.

Right Side of History my arse.

I saw some fairly jubilant tweets (or whatever they're called now) earlier. So they're definitely not sorry.

Ugh,those poor women. We were in Oregon fairly recently and we're planning to visit Portland, but decided against it at the last minute. Probably a wise decision,I wouldn't want my teenage daughters in a city that fails to protect women.

From what I can gather, Portland is a dystopic hellhole. There is no way I'd even consider doing what they did today, there is no system there any more. Certainly no police protection.

This tallies with the footage I've seen of Portland. The drug use, homelessness and gun violence appears to be out of control. The police do nothing.

I'm sure some people will claim that only 'part' of Portland is like that, but given the online videos I've seen, there's no way I'd set foot in that city.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/11/2023 09:34

Was just looking at some reports on this on Twitter, as I still think of it. What an utter disgrace. I can't believe the majority of the US population would support or be indifferent to violent attacks against women, especially older women, on the streets of a major city, carried out in the main by males, simply because the women wanted to meet to discuss male violence and threats to women's rights. So why aren't the populace speaking out?

Helleofabore · 20/11/2023 09:49

The footage I have seen is just horrific. And the old favourite of ‘cream pie’ seems to have been thrown again.

Rightsraptor · 20/11/2023 10:02

I read elsewhere that Oregon is considering an about turn on its 'liberal' (insane, imho) drug policy, because it's a disaster. It seems to me this is all part & parcel of the same thing.

Whatelsecangowrongnow · 20/11/2023 10:28

Men everywhere are rejoicing in the new opportunities to gaslight, groom and assault women and children.

WickedSerious · 20/11/2023 13:19

Portland is fucked.

Igneococcus · 20/11/2023 13:58

I lived in Portland for a few years about 20 years ago and it was honestly the most fabulous place to live back then. It's so depressing what happened to it. Most of my friends have left the city now.

Yep.

That stuff is swivel-eyed levels of misinformation and falsehood - it’s written in a very inflammatory tone, all the better to gee up the excitable troops obviously. With that level of 'discourse' some poor woman is going to be hospitalised by the thugs using that propaganda as their excuse. And, it being the US, someone might be shot.

Totally irresponsible, ageist and deeply misogynistic behaviour from those who’ve convinced themselves they’re on 'the right side of history'.

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/11/2023 17:09

Be kind - or else.

IwantToRetire · 20/11/2023 17:41

I've seen some posts on facebook from women who were there and in addition to the violence, apparently many had their mobile phones stolen. (To make sure no video clips of the attack were available?)

Some are appealing for help to buy new phones. Not sure how those of us here in the UK can help, but am really shocked by this.

Also, wasn't there a time, where people were not allowed to walk round the streets masked (ie no covid masks but face covering, usually black)? Surely before these thugs even got to the Library, they should have been stopped by the police. Its obvious that anyone dressed like this is intent on violence.

The details are terrifying.

An event organised in a Portland by Women's Declaration International, USA was targeted by violent anarchists and assorted male trans" rights supporters. In the run up to the event cars vandalised, gun threats were issued and women were stalked. Security told the women they could not keep them or the library staff safe; too many men showed up threatening violence. The women decided to give their speeches on the street outside the library after threats seemed to risk library staff. In response multiple men carried out violent attacks. Women were punched, kicked, pepper sprayed and pushed to ground. Cameras were stolen some short summaries :

Melinda's phone was seized and smashed before she was hit in the face with a full can of pepper spray. This is male terrorism against women.

"I was blinded and in a lot of pain...They kept hitting her [Lierre] and hitting her."

Sam: "They punched me in the face, and when I fell down they kicked me in the head...Women don't deserve this. Men have no right to do this. This has to stop."

"I was standing there holding the banner with some other women, and some guys started throwing things at us...beer bottles...yellow liquid."

Not only did the men pepper spray and knock Cass down, breaking her glasses, they also attacked an elderly female passerby who had nothing to do with WDI USA's event.

"They came down two sides of the street and quickly surrounded us..I was knocked to ground...I was kicked..."

Multiple WDI USA women called 911 as the men pepper sprayed, punched, kicked, and threw objects at them while stealing and breaking their phones and cameras. Portland Police officers did not arrive to protect the women exercising their 1A rights.

Everyone is safe now, but the women have many injuries. Police did not respond to several 911 calls during the attack.

We'll do our best to get some of the women's bodycam footage out as soon as possible.

The cowardly men tore at least two of the GoPros off women's bodies while assaulting them, then ran away with the cameras.

WDI twitter page has short video interviews with multiple women who were attacked:
https://twitter.com/WDI_USA

Women who speak up in the US are running huge risks and are so brave. However clearly keeping silent is not an option. Either they confront male domination and violence now or it will come after them or their kids in the future.

Bloody hell

I don’t know why we keep seeing this and can’t change what’s causing it

Childrenofthestones · 20/11/2023 18:32

The guys on the Fleccas Talks channel made a very good observation. Whenever trans people get upset they tend to return to their iriginal gender.
So whenever a trans man gets misgendered, nine times out of ten they make a yt clip breaking down in tears about it. Meanwhile whenever a transwoman is misgendered they become hypemasculine about it (see "THAT'S MA'AM OR WELL TAKE IT TO THE CAR PARK!" or to Ben Shapiro " Be careful what you say or you'll go home in an ambulance" 😅

BromCavMum · 20/11/2023 18:49

I'm originally from Portland and I went back a few months ago to see family. It had been a few years and I was shocked at how this once beautiful city has been turned into a hell hole thanks to 'progressive' democrats. Drugs and homeless everywhere, Downtown emptied of businesses due to crime. I found out they elected a DA who refuses to prosecute shoplifting. Also, the police budget was drastically reduced (thanks to Defend the Police) and the result was that gun crime rose massively. Most of the gun deaths are minorities. There are lots of these woke types there who refuse to believe it's their broken policies and authoritarian intolerance that are ruining the city. That city should warn anyone off of progressive politics. Those they claim to defend are thrown under the bus for their nutcase ideology.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/11/2023 18:50

The police weren't interested from start to finish. It's pretty lawless there when it comes to rioting etc.

As @Helleofabore said there was a previous event where women were attacked, this followed the pulling out of KJK in her American tour because she was directly and credibly threatened with death by Portland trans activists. Some of the women decided to hold an event anyway and were attacked.
