Green party should be renamed LGBTQ party

I've just been sent copies of minutes of my local Green party's last meeting (in error!) where they discussed campaigning for the next election. Apparently the issues to mention when getting across reasons for voting green are LGBT issues. Just that. No mention of the environment 🤷‍♀️

I'm not even sure they're that bothered about the LGB.

It should be the TQ+ Party.

You would think that someone around Brighton would be bringing together the issues of homelessness and climate change wouldn't you?

I would love to see a broad church party with a single focus on the environment and climate change, that acts as a conscience for all the main political parties.

I'd love it if they knocked on my door. I'd love to ask them what LGBTQ+ issues they think need resolving.

What rights do LGBTQ+ people not have?

I gave one canvasser an earful (and asked that same question) just before the last council election and they just scuttled away claiming they "didn't do Twitter".

Thanks for this, it's appalling. I'd pretty much decided to stop voting for them after 12 years, but is the decider. I expect there's just crickets from Caroline Lucas as well - such a disappointment

I thought that Jenny Jones had stood up for women's rights? I don't think it is everyone on the green party.

I'm a Green Party member, for my sins, and I'm so sick of this shit. The weird thing is not one other member in my local group, or in other groups who I know personally, is happy with this being the focus, and actually most of them are self-confessed TERFs on the quiet, and yet nothing ever changes.

I'm staying a member for now because we do a lot of good for the actual environment in my local group, but I certainly won't be voting Green (or for anyone probably at this point) in the near future. Really hoping something changes but I can't see it.

What has the question about what rights trans people lack got to do with whether you use Twitter or not?

Surely Green party canvassers don't need Twitter to tell them what rights for trans people they are campaigning for?

I have no idea, I think it was a way of shutting down the argument by implying i was trying to stir things up Twitter-style 🤷‍♀️

Last Green Party canvasser at my door was wearing a 'trans rights' badge. I asked him about the cotton ceiling. He claimed never to have heard of it. I asked him to go and look it up and come back and discuss it with me. He even wrote down 'cotton ceiling' in his little notebook.

He could have googled it on his phone.

But I never saw him again. Nor any other Green.

The LGB people not being useful to the TQ bit of the acronym, me included, have long since been flung out.

The Green party is not remotely interested in the views of homosexual women who do not want to be nagged about providing sex to a man if he says he's a lesbian and aspiring to 'learning to cope' with this. As if this was all a non-penis person should ever hope for in a sexual experience.

I have views on numerous political issues, but nothing is as important as the climate. Without a liveable climate we are doomed. If a party could make a real difference to this they would get my vote.

However (and I've said this before on here) I think the Greens know the battle for the climate is lost, so they need a new cause, and they've picked trans rights.
