Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Hmm. I'd suspected she might not have been entirely serious about setting up a party (it would take a lot of time away from her campaigning, and she'd have to focus on some generalist politics which I can't see being her bag), and this seems to confirm that.

catduckgoose · 14/11/2023 09:13

Agreed it seems a bit suspicious that she doesn't even hint at what reasons the EC gave for refusal, but went straight to asking everyone to buy pyjamas and teatowels so she can hire a lawyer!

Shame .I was looking forward to her standing against Keir.

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/11/2023 10:19

Is she not standing as an independent?

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2023 10:25

We know many institutions are captured, I find it incredibly worrying that her application was rejected. If people can be prevented from setting up political parties so easily with very little scrutiny then we don't really live in a democracy.

She says that one of the people rejecting her application had pronouns in their signature. That indicates having a one-sided political opinion on the very issue Posie campaigns on. Why would you trust an institution like that rather than her word?

One of Posie's main problems is that she is too honest. I.e. she got into this as she just wasn't willing to lie about men being women. I believe what she's saying. I don't think she's not serious, I think her freedom is being curtailed. A bit like when she was forced to have a police interview about using correct sex-based pronouns or lose the ability to travel abroad.

Needmoresleep · 14/11/2023 10:26

I can understand why it might be difficult to set up a political party. Whilst I fully support KJK doing so, I can think of other characters, mainly on extreme ends of the political spectrum, and a few grifters in the middle, that I would not like to see enjoy the benefits and protections of being a recognised party within our democracy. I can fully understand why she will need professional help on some of the technical aspects.

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2023 10:26

Who can we write to about this? As potential POW voters can we ask for a FOI about the procedure used in this case (and why their employees indicate adherence to gender ideology in their emails)?

Yeah she go through all campaigning for her party, writes to the electoral commission, sends in applications, does all the admin, fulfils all their ostensible requirements...so she can sell a couple of tea towels?

Anyone who doesn't think Kelly Jay Keen isn't deadly serious about taking on anyone, and everyone who stands in her way, hasn't been paying attention.

It's not really a hurdle for her to overcome, it's what she thrives on.

Boiledbeetle · 14/11/2023 10:36

I'm presuming there is a set procedure for starting a political party and that certain criteria must be met. It's going to be interesting to see exactly what the reasons were for why her application was declined.

You would hope it was because something that should have been included in the application wasn't and not that someone somewhere gets to decide based on that person's personal opinion.

Unfortunately I'm not exactly feeling hopeful, nor do I have much faith in the system not being corrupted by Stonewallification!

fedupandstuck · 14/11/2023 10:37

You only have to look at the Electoral Commission website to see the applications process to register a political party, and their decisions page, to see that most parties take several attempts to get Approved. There are multiple stages of the application to fill out with details on many different aspects related to funding, officers, constitution, compliance etc etc. It's quite clear that it's not an easy process to get a party approved. Especially if you are an individual and don't have easy access to accountants and lawyers to help you draft the application.

Pretty much. Most people who want to set up political parties never get them off the ground.

It's not personal against KJK, and it's not an attack on women. It's not an occasion to be outraged.

But boring admin rarely generates clicks.

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2023 12:47

I think it's a cause for outrage that the response she got had pronouns stated at the bottom. That is showing adherence to a political ideology which is not accepted within UK society. It's like there being a verse from only one religion in that person's signature. That would not be considered acceptable obvious bias and neither is this.

fedupandstuck · 14/11/2023 12:48

My point is really to counteract the implications by @catduckgoose that talking about the process is somehow an excuse for grifting for cash. She gave an update. It would be sensible for her to get the advice of legal experts on how to get through the application process. Asking for support to do that is also reasonable.

By the way, I don't think anyone is outraged. One person on this thread has expressed concern about the process.

KJK will have the details of why the application was rejected. If there's any hint that it was unjustified, I am quite sure that she would say so and be clear about this. The electoral commission are pretty transparent about the whole process, and any accusation of bias would be a very serious issue for them.

RayonSunrise · 14/11/2023 13:07

A couple of people on this thread have darkly hinted at a conspiracy. The last thing a serious campaign needs is that kind of "support."

Datun · 14/11/2023 13:17

Given the capture of everyone, from your local swimming pool, up to Cabinet ministers, no one would be in the slightest bit surprised if the electoral commission wasn't the same.

Government departments, NHS, the police, the IOC, the CPS, the judiciary, the Ministry of Justice, the statistics office, the list is practically endless.

It would be more of a shock if the pronoun promoting electoral commission wasn't captured, tbh.

"Lord Bucket Head" gets to stand against Theresa May while posing as an intergalactic warrior, but KJK who is an actual political campaigner for women is denied.......

"Lord Bucket head" / "Count Binface" is a member of an official political party though, even if it is the Monster Raving Looney Party.

As a PP said upthread, it's not unusual for fledgling political parties to take several attempts to be formally recognised.

There is also nothing stopping KJK from standing in elections as an independent candidate.

EasternStandard · 14/11/2023 15:11

Does she say what she plans to do next?

I think she wants to consult a specialist lawyer. Hence the request for T-towel purchase.

Yes we know that 😂 thank you ... Pointing out the absurdity.

Well, off I go to Posie's store then - still have a few Xmas gifts to get. Luckily our entire family's Christmas spend is entirely mine to dispose of.

The older I get the more ornery I get when people try and downplay my legitimate concerns (and those of other women).

I hope all the purchases mean Posie gets a shit hot lawyer.
