[UNCANCELED] Let's Talk About Sex Baby: Why Biological Sex Remains A Necessary Analytic Category in Anthropology
November 8, 2023Wednesday, November 8th at 4 - 6 pm ET (9-11pm GMT?)
Register now to see the panel that the American Anthropological Association (AAA) and the Canadian Anthropology Society (CASCA) removed from their conference program.
The panel, organized by Kathleen Lowrey, Associate Professor at University of Alberta, challenges the “increasingly common” tendency to substitute ‘sex’ with ‘gender’ despite there being “multiple domains of research in which biological sex remains irreplaceably relevant to anthropological analysis”.
Rather than the science on the topic being “settled” the expert panelists argue that, “contesting the transition from sex to gender in anthropological scholarship deserves much more critical consideration than it has hitherto received in major disciplinary fora like AAA / CASCA.”

I'm not posting because I think anyone wants to stay up late to watch this (I always get ET to GMT wrong) but more just to give publicity to the panel for not taking their "cancellation" as final!
I think there was a thread about this at the time, but have failed to track it down
