When I looked up a definition of TP I found this on the US Planned parenting site .

It seems to me that I am probably TP or TM by their definition and if directed to me as a slur, I would now just thank them !

As regards these examples I agree with or do them all the time ( in the case of the latter ones )

Maybe we should stop thinking that TP is a slur we want to avoid and own it!

It reminds me of that scene in Pride ( one of my favourite films) when the Gays decide to own the slur “perverts” hence the fund raising concert being called “Pits and Perverts”

ps I also would thank someone who called me woke as that seems to be appropriate too in all things other than trans stuff.

I thought you meant Transmesia, as in "The inability to remember anything, anywhere, anytime when on the witness stand in an employment tribunal".

I don't agree with either of these words. For me it's not a fear or a hatred, but a disagreement with their beliefs.

Perhaps instead of the suffix being based on φόβος (fear) or μῖσος (hatred), it should be ἀπιστία (disbelief). Which I guess would be transapistia in English.

Maybe I hadn’t heard of it before . I used it because I thought using the other word would draw attention of Mumsnet towers to the post who sometimes seem quick to take posts down ! Massive fail on my part, sorry !

Is this just that some TRAs feel they don’t have enough special ways to talk about being the most marginalised and vulnerable groups.

I doubt there are any federal laws that stop trans people from accessing HC or playing sports.

(unlike say, Afghanistan, where women are indeed prevented from accessing health care and sporting facilities, whilst men are not. Hmm, what's the % trans population in Afghanistan?)

Everyone should have access to sports, but sex based categories should be retained. I wouldn’t actually deadname anyone directly except particular violent criminals we all know about usually.

you’re falling for the spin! There aren’t any laws in the USA preventing trans people from accessing healthcare or playing sports. The laws being referred to ban poorly evidenced trans healthcare for children, and ban males from female sports.

Maybe I am falling for the spin too . I suppose the point I was making was that everyone seems so scared of being transphobic , we don’t say things aloud , we worry what others will think . Any GC thing we say seems labelled transphobic I wonder if we should just turn it around and say so what ! Is it such a bad thing . It would certainly take the winds out of the sails if you just agree and own the label
