'Defence advocate Victoria Dow told the court that Miller "recognises and feels the horror of his conduct" and was said to feel an "enduring sense of shame".
Miller was also said to have expressed concern over how his behaviour would affect the wider trans community.'

Andrew Miller jailed for 20 years for abducting and sexually assaulting girl in Scottish Borders

Andrew Miller, also known as Amy George, identifies as a transgender woman and is said to be in the process of transitioning. The judge previously described the "abhorrent crimes" against the girl as the "realisation of every parent's worst nightmare"...

@MotherEarthisaTerf and @JanesLittleGirl - thank you very much. What a horrendous summing up :(
I think I might be missing the crucial element somewhere - does it state that he "identified" as a woman/trans in general prior to this crime? I know it says he wants to "protect the trans community", but is there an explicit statement that he considered himself trans/a woman?

The only reference is:

"I note that you are recorded by the risk assessor as talking in detail about your desire to limit the impact of your offending on what is referred to as the wider trans community."

There is a clear implication that AM regards himself as a member of that community.

QuashMe · 20/10/2023 12:21

Many thanks again @JanesLittleGirl and @Chersfrozenface . That's really helpful.

This is from the STV news site on 18th May this year. Another media outlet rather than court records, but it backs up the BBC paragraph

"The court was told that Miller was in the process of transitioning to female but chose to be identified by his birth name.

"On social media, Miller also goes by Amy George and described himself as the owner of the Millers of Melrose butchers."

See, heres the thing. The vast vast majority of the trans community are not predators. But they have created an umbrella that gives predators shelter. There are two main groups to be concerned about. Criminals with rapid onset trans identity in the face of prosecution, and men with fetishes and parafilias, known to be risk factors for sexual offending, claiming a trans identity.

The whole edifice of gender ideology is totally dependent on the denial of reality and the suspension of disbelief. So, to prevent the whole thing coming tumbling down, the trans community accept these men and views the risks they pose to women and children as simply collateral damage. There have been too many crystal clear examples of the dangers of gender ideology for them to plead ignorance. They will not talk about or seek to manage the predators under their rainbow umbrella, and shout bigot at anyone who does.

It really is time for the trans community to have a serious conversation about this.

medianewbie · 20/10/2023 14:58

Not only has AM dressed & posed as a woman for some time (long enough to 'qualify' under current Scottish Rules), but AM posted on local FB (as 'amy george') about Westminster interfering in Scottish Gender Policy (basically telling them to keep noses out). It struck me at the time as quite combative.

@TaytoCheeseandOnion You make excellent points.
AM absolutely considers himself a spokesperson for Trans people in Scotland.
If I were part of that group I'd want to disassociate myself sharpish.

His social media/facebook profile shows him as 'Amy George' dating from 2017, if that helps.

Here is Miller as 'Amy Miller' in an article from 2020:

And another article from 2020:

Telegraph describes how Miller was identifying as a woman for at least seven years:

'Before the arrest, Miller maintained social media profiles as both Andrew Miller and Amy George, and had been openly transgender for around six years.'

Been on holiday so only just catching up now on this. Well done Lord Arthurson for giving a sentence that will help protect young girls.

as for the TRAs they have enraged me. How DARE they get to claim AM was not a trans woman when the whole premise of self ID according to them is that he is one if he says so. Absolute dishonest bastards.

And are we still awaiting Shona Robison’s apology then?

That little girl was so brave it makes me sick to my stomach what she’s been through at the hands of that sick, twisted, deviant fuck.

Do you know what's painted on the road outside Cardiff Castle, right next to the grassed area where he was sitting?

The "Progress" flag

The "Progress" flag

Such progress enabling the flashing dirty old pervs to abuse small children with less fear of social consequences.

Honestly, we're going back to the dark ages as far as women't rights and child safeguarding goes.

He got a suspended sentence? Jesus wept. Everyone knows that incidences of flashing like this can lead to more serious sexual offending. Exposing himself to a child. Grim as hell. Considering his dirty protest in custody as well, that’s shockingly lenient.

According to Wales Online, "he had 25 previous convictions including the sexual assault of a woman and a case of exposure when he chased a woman in Cardiff city centre and exposed his genitals."

And still he's free.

Chersfrozenface · 20/10/2023 19:37

The other thing I'd like to know is, who were the other two people the story says he was sitting with.

CorruptedCauldron · 20/10/2023 20:21

It beggars belief. What do these perverts have to do to get locked up? Do we wait until he does an Andrew Miller, or do we act now and help protect the public? If this man goes on to commit a more serious offence and the powers that be trot out the usual “lessons have been learned” spiel, it will be too little, too late.

Yep. An Andrew/Amy millar or a Wayne couzens - another flasher who took the lack of action on his flashing as a green light to do worse. It's not right.

THIS.
The Ministry of Justice sex offender data & the countless media reports provide evidence of all this. The deliberate ignoring of these men and the risk they pose to children & women is shameful.

Corrupted cauldron

Shockingly, I'm not surprised. In 2012, the neighbour opposite did it to my wife and a number of other women and after talking to the neighbours, got 4 of them to complain and he was found guilty.

I looked him up and he had a 20 year record, including for masturbating outside schools, at schoolgirls.

He got sex offenders register, probation, community service and som offender management programme. On the bus back from Crown Court and a guilty verdict, he dropped his trousers to 12 and 13 year old girls at a bus stop.

He got a fine and "Don't do it again."

In all the cases we could find, he's had one 6 month sentence.

Locking this man up may actually be the kindest act for both him and the rest of society. This really risks vigilante justice.

CorruptedCauldron · 20/10/2023 23:22

That is terrible, SinnerBoy - no justice at all. How difficult is it for the authorities to lock up perverts who expose themselves to women and children? It’s a pattern of offending that’ll either continue as is, or escalate further. Why should women and children be collateral damage because the authorities can’t be arsed to take a zero tolerance approach to these perverts?

There are people in prison right now serving time for committing non-violent, non-sexual crimes. People who are not a threat to the public, but who have been put away for falling foul of the law. How they get jailed, while sex offenders walk free, just blows my mind.

The risk of vigilantes descending is real - but prison is not always the safest place for paedos, they tend to be a target inside.

Katie Dolatowski was back at his parents house after being found accidentally living in a woman’s hostel on Leeds. The neighbours were not impressed at having a resident convicted paedophile and the police had to come to calm everything down.
I thought then that I’d they’d got him they’d have lynched him. He was held on the female estate for breaching his conditions when Isla Bryson happened - and they just let him go. I thought “where is your duty of care? If he goes to his mums they’ll kill him”. Here’s me, a dreadful bigot, worrying about the safety of a, to quote JKR, a prick, and the organisations who SHOULD be loookging after him just turned their back. He should be in a male jail, for the rest of his life, not subjected to summary justice. There is trouble ahead.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 20/10/2023 23:33

I see this a lot, cauldron. Are you able to share what actually happens? Is it that men who have been victims of abuse themselves will seek retribution, or wider bullying - that their food will be spat on and their things stolen? My knowledge of jail is limited to orange is the new back.

Yes, I understand that, but inside at least there are guards who are aiming to keep order.
